my aunty

She is my mother elder sister, and I had known her
all my life. She is a skilled midwife until she retired. Had been very actived as long as I can
remember,so I had never in all those while had
a picture of her like this when she is old.
Now in her 80ties,she is all skin and bones.
To make things worst she had a fall recently,
and lost her mobility. Bedridden that's it.
She is lucky though to have who stay
nearby and care too. They had shift, one for morning, another for the afternoon. At night
her husband will be there to keep her company.
Looking at her made me thinketh:
What will be the picture when I am as old as thee
Will there be somebody to look after me?
When I told my sister my feeling,
do you know what she said?
All this is 'nasib' meaning ' luck'
You may have all the , all the money,
but in the end only paid people are around ...
but then if you are lucky,
even paid people will love you and
you are being look after as if you are
their own parent.
Suffice to say,
or better still to sing :
WHAT WILL BE...WILL BE

I am one of those 'paid people'
Yes, your sister is right, some if not most of us do love your mum and others just like her.
My job is to make sure mum/aunty is clean and comfortable as she would be if she was in her own home.
To run errands, to take her/him, mum/dad, Uncle/Aunty out if they are capable of activities.
My job is to maintain the current levels of skills and abilities.
More to it than that. But that is enough here.
Your Aunty is in a good place....

You may be the very best apple in the world, but not everyone likes apples

Hi Nuun: Nice blog. Sorry about your Aunt and I really hope she will be o.k. Being old and sick is scary but especially for those of us who are alone. At least your Aunt is fortunate to have family who care about her. A lot of people don't have family, and also can't afford to pay people to help either. There is very little in the way of free help from the community where I live. Getting old is sure not for sissies, but what can we do?

Hello Nuun, nice to see another blogger in Msia. Getting old is a problem, and hoping there will be good people to take care of those who need it. Lesson to us all..... enjoy life whilst we can.
