Who Are You Wearing?

Bible in a Year:
Jonah 1–4

Revelation 10
I have taken away your sin, and I will put fine garments on you.

Zechariah 3:4

Today's Scripture & Insight:

Zechariah 3:1–7,10
The Argentine women’s basketball team came to their tournament game wearing the wrong uniforms. Their navy blue jerseys were too similar to Colombia’s dark blue jerseys, and as the visiting team they should have worn white. With no time to find replacement uniforms and change, they had to forfeit the game. In the future, Argentina will surely double-check what they’re wearing.

In the time of the prophet Zechariah, God showed him a vision in which the high priest Joshua came before God wearing smelly, filthy clothes. Satan sneered and pointed. He’s disqualified! Game over! But there was time to change. God rebuked Satan and told His angel to remove Joshua’s grubby garments. He turned to Joshua, “See, I have taken away your sin, and I will put fine garments on you” (Zechariah 3:4).

We came into this world wearing the stench of Adam’s sin, which we layer over with sin of our own. If we stay in our filthy clothes, we’ll lose the game of life. If we become disgusted with our sin and turn to Jesus, He’ll dress us from head to toe with Himself and His righteousness. It’s time to check, Who are we wearing?

The final stanza of the hymn “The Solid Rock” explains how we win. “When He shall come with trumpet sound, / , may I then in Him be found; / Dressed in His righteousness alone, / Faultless stand before the throne.”

Reflect & Pray
Who are you wearing? Are you trusting in your own goodness or Jesus? Which do you want God and others notice?

Jesus, thank You for providing the way for my sin be removed and for Your righteousness cover .

What an apt way to phrase it..... when we stand before the Lord, it won't be what, but Who we are wearing that makes the difference.

No baby comes into this world bearing guilt of others.
That is pure unadulterated bull shit .
Anyone in their right mind knows better.
Go ahead & delete me I hate reading nonsense. that.
You carry it way too far & you know it can not be fact.
That is total ignorance.

The day I quit going to church was the day a young mother stood up & asked the preacher( in mid sermon) if he really believed the newborn baby in her arms would go to hell if it died that night not being baptized----he said YES----she turned & walked out----her wimpy husband sat there for awhile-----then followed her out----the preacher forgot the rest of what he had to say so the song leader had everyone do a song-----the crowd left. My family never went back.
I was11 years old.
I exited stupidity training before I was indoctrinated.
Seeing that young mother stand up with babe in arms made an impression on me. I think of her often when I see the hypocrites.

You make an impression also!
For you to say that baby was born in sin---- guilty because a guy ate an apple thousands of years ago makes me so angry I can not sit still.
SHAME ON YOU!
AND ANYONE ELSE WHO THINKS THE SAME WAY
Pray For Yourself.

JW, I would have walked out at that point also. Yes, everyone is born into "sin", but is not held accountable for it until they develop a realization of it and the way of redemption through the sacrifice on the cross and the resurrection. That age is different for everyone.... and some never reach it.
I'm sorry that preacher lacked understanding and compassion. It is episodes like this that turn people away from God's love and make it harder for them to find it again.
If you truly hate reading Marbella's blogs, perhaps you shouldn't read them, then you wouldn't get so upset.

No one is born into sin.
It is an impossibility.
You can not assume that.
A baby is totally innocent when born anything else an attempt to alter reality.

Mrs Joe its not about my being angry..
It is about false claims being made in a public forum.
Rest assured I am telling the truth. If it frightens people away from believing outright lies then perhaps I may be doing them a favor .

It was not about a preacher having understanding and compassion------it was about him promoting an outright superstitious impossible lie that everyone in the building new was false.

I'm speaking the truth/reality & it will stand against anything stated here.

The stench of Adams sins???????????????????????????????????????????????

If anyone is guilty of anything it is a person who would even suggest that a newborn baby is guilty of what someone else has done.

That even flies in the face of what our country is built upon.
The one going to hell is not the baby.
The person going to hell is the person who even entertains the thought.
Shame on all who think that way.
Your religion has diminished your ability to think.
Pray deeply when you hit your knees tonight.

JW, perhaps it would help to look differently at the word sin. Many only consider it to mean wrong doing, as in actual behavior or actions. But what you are asking is about what some denominations call "original" sin or the sin of Adam.
Adam's sin was disobedience to God by eating the forbidden fruit, but it went more deeper than that because it changed his spiritual being from being in right standing with God, to no longer being in good standing, or unrighteous. That changed the entire nature of all mankind to come. Including us today.
It took the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross and Resurrection to restore that total righteousness with God. When we accept that sacrifice, and receive the work that Jesus did on our behalf, we are restored to that original state of right standing with God. Yes, we can and still do wrong things, but we have the avenue through Jesus to be forgiven and restore our relationship with God, and that's when we are sincere about our repentance.... and we can't fool God.
It takes the sacrifice of Jesus to wipe away that sin nature that Adam caused, but a person has to be able to understand that need before they can be held accountable for it. Until then, they are pure and innocent..... and it isn't just babies, there are some who never reach that age. God is just, but He is also loving and merciful.

'Who are you wearing?' I like how it's been put also. All too often we lean on our own understanding without further consideration; often wise in our own eyes, our conceit/fragile egos blinding us to what is. We can't fool God as you rightly state.

Mrs. Joe-----Whatever-----or how ever you want or wish to talk about something that did or did not happen ( how many years ago)???????????????????????

What does it have to do with a child born today.??????????????????????

If your parents robed a bank the day you were conceived are you liable?
If they robed it 2000 years ago certainly NOT. RIGHT?

Mrs. Joe I'm Not talking about anyone try to fool God ---you are speaking from your indoctrinated guilt complex.

I am talking about ANYONE trying to fool another person that a newborn baby bears guilt when born as stated in this blog----THE STENCH OF WHAT ADAM DID whenever or whatever it was.

You can not quantify or confuse the issue with the usual passing it on to me in defense of what you claim to believe. You know it is not right.

Yes WHAT ARE YOU WEARING? blog title-------guilt placed upon you at birth.
Birth is genuine pure simple innocent not to be confused by indoctrinated cult thinking.
I for one will not volunteer for it and my children were raised free of it.

Where are all the preachers all I her is Mrs Joe & silence. LOL
Pray On!
