"you have 247 e mail s marked urgent"

Never take any time off from work when you cannot access your work e-mail. I have spent the better part of the past 2 days answering, reading and DELETING e-mails. I would much rather be at the park, playing in the mud with my grandsons and dogs than doing that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The were a hell of a lot more fun!!!!!!!

I finished clearing all the correspondense and nonsense, and answered the important ones, made a ton of phone calls and finally got caught up this afternoon. With all that said, written and done, I really wasnt in the mood to sit in front of my computer tonite and start putting my thoughts down, but I thought about it and it may be therapy. The herd has been fed, they are all happy with plump little bellies and a warm soft place to lay down(hey wheres mine?), and no ares in the world. So I pewned the refrigerator and found a light bulb and something that may be cheese, could be yogurt, not willing to risk it.

I know I sent the to the grocery store when I got back, what the hell happened. Locust arent this thorough.!.!.! So I call the pizza dude, its a hour and a half wait for delivery, the ball game is on, and I'm starving. There's a little bar on the corner that has hot sandwiches and stuff so I climb in the truck and head up there. I know they have cold beer and food, this is a good idea.(right) I find an empty barstool and plant it, order a cold one and a nice Italian Roast Beef & Peppers(heartburn) and the girl sitting next to me starts a conversation. This is quickly turning into "I dont care, but I'll be nice" during the commercial and she shuts up when the game starts again(Thank You God)She cant get my name correct in her state of inebriation which suits me just fine, and I try and ignore her.

The bartender brings me my sandwich on a plate, so much for my to go order, so I ordered another beer and try to watch the game. Now the girl next to me, decides to start the conversation again, and picks up a napkin and wipes the leftover bite from my mustache.( I AM ANNOYED ) There isnt anyplace left to sit, so I try to eat in peace. That aint happening either. She heads towards the ladies room., and I finish my sandwich unmolested. I tip back my beer, paid my tab and stood up just as she comes back. (dammit I almost made it) She comes up to me and surmises she is just my type and grabs me by the arm and says goodbye to her friend. (Did I mention it aint hapenin) I look at the bartender, she looks at me and was ever so pleasant.

"Take your hand off my husband bitch if you want to keep it!!!) she roared out loudly. Little miss chatterbox lets go and sits back down like a scolded 3 year old, pouting.

I left the change on the bar, and backed out of there. The sandwich was fantastic, beer was cold, game was great, inhabitants a little of center. So iheaded back to the house, fires up the computer and found some sanity.

Every time I get back to work from my three day weekends I have at least 100 new emails. Some I can delete without even opening (love them). Most I have to read and a handful I have to take action on.

I always dread coming back after a week's vacation...in spite of putting on an "Out of Office" message I'll have a couple of hundred emails demanding immediate attention and usually an IT message saying my mailbox is too full. Hell....IT can empty it for me....I won't miss them.

You stud, you.

What a great come back from the bartender.

I truly understand how playing in the mud with grandkids and puppies beats paper work - hands down.

Hey Harley, I know what you mean. I use to be the right hand person to the commissioner at O'Hare and the emails were always 200 - 300 a day. Your heart is in the right place. LOL
