Election Day Memoirs and Adventures

[The first Election that I ever voted was in 1972. My folks were Democrats so I registered as a Republican. Nixon and McGovern were running. The Nixon Campaigner were drinkers and McGovern Campaigners smoked pot.

Since Alcohol was technically legal despite the fact that I was under 21, I opted to become a Nixonette. Life on life's terms and reality changed my political views. C'est La Via!!!!!

Carter was President when Josh was born and Reagan was President when Billy was born. Billy loved to talk about Politics. He often talked about being President when he grows up.

Billy accompanied me to the Polls when Clinton was running against Daddy Bush. "Mom! You Voted for Clinton! That's not very nice. My Teacher voted for Bush. You should have voted for him too!" my admonished me.

A few weeks later, Billy was trying to think of a name for his newly acquired pet rat. "I can't name him after Bill Clinton because my name is Billy too," I suggested that he name the rat Hillary. "I'm NOT naming my rat Killary!" Billy replied. He pondered about naming the Rat after Ronald Reagan. My now ex-hubby advised. "If you name that Rat Ronald Reagan, that Rat is sleeping outside." A week later Chelsea the Rat had a dozen baby rats.

Mercury was in Retrograde the year the Bush Junior was elected. The Results was a toss up and votes had to be recounted. I kept a black candle going on the front porch which really ticked off our Republican Neighbor.

This year has been a very interesting Historical Election. Virginia does not register voters by Party so I can vote for anyone I want to during the Primaries.

Obama took Virginia in the Primaries and the National Elections. I left early because of projected long lines at the Poll. The crowd must have followed me. I walked in and casted my vote. I was leaving when the folks started waiting in lines. Next, I went to Starbucks where they were offering free coffee to all who voted. I walked in - purchased a bagel with the free coffee. I left whatever I would have paid for coffee as a tip. As I was leaving for Sam's Club - the crowd started coming in.

I told the Sam's Club Customers about the Complimentary Coffee for Voters at Starbucks. They told me about Complimentary Ice Cream at Ben & Jerry's.

Ben and Jerry's Ice cream is exactly what I don't need so I drove past it on the way home.

We watched the Election Results on Television. Obama is now President. I won't be light a black candle for the First Black President. Perhaps a White Candle instead
.

It's illegal to garner priveliges for voting in most states. It's a throwback to the bottles of liquor left on your doorstep with a note saying, vote for me.

When my feet hit the floor each morning, the devil says "Oh Crap, She's up!"

It is perfectly legal for a Merchant to give a complimentary cup of coffee for citizen who VOTE - What would be illegal is to give a cup of coffeee if a citizen votes for a particular candidate. Starbucks mostly made more $$$$$$$$ because Folks who normally would not come to Starbucks bought other goodies to go with the coffee.
