Drama Queens, Fools & Preachers

A Drama Queen is an individual who tends to exaggerate or overreact to mundane situations. They display excessive emotions and react intensively to the tiniest of issues while seeking attention and sympathy

It has been my experience that it is IMPOSSIBLE to maintain a friendship with a Drama Queen. It is also my experience that situations often repeat themselves because there is a lesson to be learned.

Last year, I relocated and got away from a problematic neighbor and now I I have another one. Dear God, What did I miss this time?

Proverbs states that a fool has no delight in understanding but in expressing his own heart. It is useless to argue with a fool. They don't understand, they do not want to understand. They just want to spout their mouths off, remain ignorant while repeating their folly over and over again.

A few years ago, I reluctantly helped Drama Queen#1 who wanted to relocate from Nebraska to West Virginia. I knew her parents from the 12 Step Community but also knew that this woman was a drama queen. I connected her with my landlord and she ended up in the apartment next door to me. She disliked my 12 Step friends, and considered my book club buddies a bunch of elitists. I suspect that if my landlord allowed it, she would have a bunch of cats. She got madder and madder as I keep making prayer ties on her behalf.

So now I have Drama Queen#2. He would often talk about his love of alcohol and convinced that he would be going to h*ll because of it. I told him that it's ridiculous.
and that God loves him unconditionally. It's funny how some of A.A.'s biggest critics are the ones who need it most.

One of the advantages of my new abode is that if I don't want to go out into the freezing cold and navigate my car on the black ice to my Quaker Meeting, I have an alternative. I can get on zOOm or I can roll out of bed, get dressed, walk down the hall into the community room and keep company with the Baptist. I have a famous Baptist ancestor so I'm cool with that.

There is also a Pentacostal preacher who comes in once a month. It's not my style but I respect his constitutional and first amendment right to worship as he see fit. However I did inadvertently walked into his service this month. It would have been rude to abruptly leave so I stayed put and politely listened. He was talking about a book on prayer that sounded interesting. After the service, I asked him about the book. One of my neighbors and I discussed the getting some books and perhaps starting a prayer group. I suggested that we pray for Drama Queen#2 when he walked into the room and overheard my comment. He had a major league cow and pOOped bricks sideways. He ranted on about how the preacher makes the devil look, good, and how stupid I was to give the preacher $15, for a book on how to pray. That preacher will take that $15. to go to Applebee's after the service.

Reality is that I found several(buy 3, get one free) books online for a few dollars each. Fifteen dollars would barely cover the cost of preacher's meal much less that of his wife's. If someone slips him a few dollars, Bravo for him!

I suspect that Drama Queen#1 and Drama Queen#2 didn't want prayers. They want to remain fools. She wants her houseful of cats and he wants his alcohol.

I will keep praying because a wise woman once told me that praying is a lot.

NO USE WASTING YOUR PRAYERS ON EITHER ONE OF THEM. SO NOW YOU HAVE A DRAMA KING TO REPLACE THE DRAMA QUEEN. WELL, IF NOTHING ELSE, THAT COULD GIVE YOU SOMETHING TO LAUGH ABOUT.

Some drama queens only hang around with others who will listen and commensurate with them. Others push themselves on people who see through them and want nothing to do with them.... I guess getting some attention, even as an annoyance, is better than nothing.
I really do need to get back into the habit of reading. Other than my Bible and some Bible teaching books, I like fiction mystery type books, and used to read every night before I went to bed. After that almost month stay in the TN hospital when Joe broke his leg, and we got home, our schedule was so hectic for awhile that I got out of the habit. Then, I started playing games on my phone because it was handy and I could pick it up and put it down at any time. I'm afraid it has actually become an addiction.
My daughter gave me a couple of books at Christmas, one called "It's Not Supposed To Be Like This", and the other was a book about grief. I've read a little in each one.... one looks interesting, the other one not so much.
I hope reading, for education and personal learning, or for pleasure, does not become a lost art.
I don't hold much stock in prayer books..... where prayers are written out. To me, prayer is simply talking to God, but there are some good books out there about the basics of communication with the Lord that can be helpful to people.
As for your drama queen..... maybe he will move. But there seems to always be one in every group, doesn't there?

Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

I am also not one for written prayers and tend to improvise when I do decide to use them. My Higher Power and I frequently have conversations mostly with me thanking him when I locate misplaced keys. I try to put them in the same place every time. I do belong to a book club and this building has a fantastic library which fortunately the Drama Queen doesn't visit.

I noticed all drama queens live on attention. They think highly of themselves and think of others r beneath them. Drama queen #1, having a lot of cats is a no no ! 2 maybe 3 isn't horrible. I'm allergic to cats, so I would keep my distance from her anyway. Lived with a drama queen #2, if U r trying to be a better person ... it is great of U to try and help him but, U can't fix broken, if broken don't want to be fixed. Keep on being U and being happy !

Hate to break it to you but;

1 Corinthians 6:10
Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. (KJV)

Judgment Day will be interesting - and all paths lead there.

I tend to believe that healing and redemption can happen on both sides. Drunkards are drunkards because they are addicts and powerless over those addictions. The addiction causes them to be thieves, coveters, reviles, extortioners and other behaviors that create hell in their own lives and for those around them. What is the Kingdom of God. Does it happen after death or is it something within that we experience during our earthwalk? I believe that souls progress on both sides.
