Photo Friday - "Meal" Planning and My Exceedingly Boring Life

When Grumpy was on this side, we often joked about how he would do the cooking while I made the reservations. I still don't do a whole lot of cooking but I do make reservations a whole lot less.

Today I decided to go grocery shopping but know better than to shop while I am hungry so I decide to stop at the Bob Evans Diner. I ordered Sole Filet Fish and the house salad. I don't need the Fries and leave the croutons off the salad, I told the young willowy waitress. Extra veggies with the Sole Filet Fish. After the meal, she suggested dessert. I told her that I was trying to get my girlish figure back. Yeah Right!!! She told me that she would push for dessert. I advised her that if she suggested fruit that she might make a sale. The calories listed on the menu was 900 but I got it down to 390 and left her a generous tip.

Next was the trip across the street to Wal-Mart. Veggies, Asparagus, Peppers and Onions, Freezer bags. Ad Infinitum. When I got out of the store, that obnoxious white stuff was falling down from the sky. I can drive in it but I prefer not to.

When I made it home, I divided the ingredients up and placed them in the freezer bags. Voila, meal planning for two plus weeks. Pop it in the microwave for a few minutes - DONE!!!

Contrary to what CP9 has suggested, I am not a candidate for "My SlX Hundred Lb Life." I don't have scantily clad men Republican or otherwise dancing around in my bedroom. I am not cyber-diddling with SFF Trolls. My late husband was Grumpy before we even met. Although my house is more live in than what might suit someone with OCD, it is not squalid. My life is actually exceedingly boring and I am fine with that. I don't smoke, drink alcohol, carbonated drinks and now sugar, flour, and wheat products are off the agenda. I do have dandelion tea and CBD's.

There may have been a point in my life when I did all of those things but life on life terms, getting older, and health challenges merit lifestyle changes.

If I am REALLY bad, I will have a cup of coffee.

We are all guilty of buying things that we shouldn't eat. I buy in bulk from Amazon and there have been a few items that I looked at the label and Yikes! I am getting better at it. I gave up alcohol a little over 44 years ago. I was able to walk away with no regrets without looking back. I could never imagine giving up Ice Cream for 44 days but I've done it. I just don't keep it in the house and it's too freezing cold to drive out to get it. I will be meeting a girlfriend tomorrow at the local Java/Ice Cream shop. We are going to play cards. (Tarot Cards) I hope I am up to the challenge of saying no to the Ice Cream but I intend to misbehave with fancy coffee.

Good for you, I both admire and respect your committment to shedding excess weight/healthier lifestye. I recall your mentioning the need to lose an x amount in preparation for a much needed operation - still on track?

I'm a big fan of frozen veggies too. They're convenient and nutritious, and unlike fresh veggies they don't spoil so I can make less frequent grocery shopping trips. My freezer is my friend! The only down side of fully stocking my freezer is that I live in an area that experiences frequent power outages. Fortunately they're usually brief.

A day without dance is .... just kidding. I have no idea!

Actually, I am totally on track. It's not even about the excess weight so much as it is leading a healthier lifestyle. The idea is to make the healthy lifestyle changes and the body will transform to what it's suppose to be.

I love cooking with frozen veggies. My research reveals that they are picked at peak time and frozen thus maximum benefits. I don't have to worry about chopping and dicing. I just put in the protein, toss the veggies on top and microwave. Flavor it up with herbs and spices. I do have a container of fresh spinach. I just toss three bean salad on it and maybe a hard boiled egg. Done! Easy Peezy.

Frozen veggies are so handy and much less wasteful .I still use some fresh veggies, once I know I'm going to cook them in a day or two.

I'm trying to cut down on coffee, tea, sweets, cakes etc. I'm getting to really like green tea now. I treat myself to a latte when I'm out, but no coffee in the house now at all.

My blood pressure was rather high and I was getting a lot of heart palpitations. Both have improved thank God. The doctor took me off some medication and changed my blood pressure tablet also. So far so good.

You seem to have everything under control, Star, good for you.

I eat as little mass produced food as possible.....Fresh and local are important characteristic for me.....I haven't eaten gluten or any form of bread for over 20 years.. No coffee, no black tea, no sugar.....I am eating imported fruit in the Winter, but also have a lot of local blueberries, huckleberries, apple and pear in the freezer....

What about the chemical fertilizers, insecticides and pesticides etc. used on those veggies?

Actually, JW, plain frozen veggies have almost no salt at all. It's the fancy ones that have a sauce that are loaded with sodium. Most canned veggies are too, but it's pretty easy to find them without salt.
Joe loves cauliflower and Brussels Sprouts, so I always have plenty in the freezer of those.

I have a bad habit of buying meat, putting it in the freezer, and never getting around to cooking it. My daughter suggested one of the bag sealing appliance, and at least my meats are air tight in those vacuum bags, so they will last longer. I have some I need to thaw and cook, and them probably refreeze them in those vacuum bags.
I do not enjoy cooking any more..... Once upon a time, I was okay with it and actually enjoyed it at times.

I do shop at the local farmer's market during the winter season but have to seek other options in the winter.

There are probably for more chemical fertilizers, insecticides ,and pesticides in the covid vaccine than there is in frozen veggies.

Why would there be chemical fertilizers, insecticides and pesticides in a vaccine? You know that a vaccine is a minute amount of liquid right? it's not like eating something a couple of times a day for years on end......I try to minimize the poisons and maximize the vitamins and minerals.....

The point is that most of us are not one hundred percent certain what is in that vaccine which is why so many are reluctant to take it.

Most people do try to minimize poisons and maximize vitamins and minerals. My financial realities doesn't allow me to buy organic food one hundred percent of the time so I take my chances just like I did with the vaccine.
