Photo Friday - Letter "Y"

Last week was X'Mas = This week is the Pagan counterpart YULE!!!! The Christmas Tree is actually a carryover of the pagan tradition of the Yule Tree

When my b0ys were youngsters, we would them to the other parent for Christmas and do our celebration on Yule. It worked out magnificently. I would even take the day off work. Sometimes I will actually presents on January VII which is technical Old Christmas.

In past times, Christmas was a season versus just one day thus the XII days of Christmas. In current times, my holidays are usually quiet, except for Halloween aka Samhain. I like being a wild old crone on eve before All Saints Day!!!!

Yeah! I know the submission is late. I am in Atlanta using my son's network and just found out the password. My son invited me to his running club saying some folks actually walk, He hadn't seen me in a while. I walk with a four prong cane and had to get to my connections at the airport via wheelchair. I am talking to a surgeon in a few weeks about a new hip. The photo of the Yule Tree was taken at a Greek Diner where the running club met after the meet. I am not sure running is in my future but I am hoping to go Geocaching again.

Late or not, it's still interesting. I had nothing to offer this week.

The staff at the Greek diner really got into the Halloween spirit! Hope you saved room for some baklava.

A day without dance is .... just kidding. I have no idea!

That is one great picture. I really enjoyed the picture and the story behind it. Thanks for posting it.

It only takes a drop of ink to make a million people think. There are many stories.

That is different combining yule time with Halloween. Looks like the tree has all sorts of Halloween decorations on the tree. It is very different.

I immediately saw a connection between Samhain (Halloween)and Yule which both have roots in Pagan Holidays. Many of the pagan traditions have been incorporated into Christmas celebrations. The Yule Tree is one of them.
