Obnoxious X-anity Versus Dreaded Atheists & Constitutional Conservatives Thomas Jefferson Quotes "Why should I care if my neighbor worships no God or One Hundred Gods aka Roman Numeral "C" Gods. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg" afterwards he proceeded draft the Virginia Statue Religious Freedom. This is the forerunner of the first amendment protections for religious freedom. I have laugh when Ms. Multiple Profiles will list the name of those dreaded Atheist as if she expects everyone gasp in unison. She will quote Bible Verses prove her point folks who don't acknowledge the validity of the Bible or the statement that they are destined Hades that they don't acknowledge. Exactly what she accomplishes is appear foolish and possible embarrass the deity that she is trying plug. She is obviously not a Constitutional Conservative. There was a time when Religious Choices were subjected the dictates of the Crown, Political or Clergy in Charge. This led dire consequence those who thought otherwise. The Virginia Statue Religious Freedom and the First Amendment were created eliminate those scenarios. Current day churches and other religious orders (synagogues and mosques) provide food, clothing, housing, health care job assistants those in need. They send volunteers disaster areas rebuild communities. A few years back, when my own town was devastated by the One Thousand aka Roman Numeral "M" FLOOD. The Mormonite Disaster Service came to town. Hope Village was built for those who lost homes and building repairs were done by other church groups as well. Atheists may point out the evil history of religion with validity. That is not the case with most current day churches in the United States. They may have views and prospective that not in agreement but if it doesn't pick pockets or break legs; why worry. Constitutional Conservatism is the focus on how a society of people with very different values can live together. |

When I was about five years in recovery, I decided that I wanted a religion. Why? That's what normal people do? I also heard stick with the winners. I started researching the different religions and went with the religion deem with the most educated. Ironically, I was putting myself through college as an exotic dancer. I would go to confirmation classes before going to work. Later I searched other paths. I am attracted to my current spiritual community because of the activism. Ironically most of them have PhDs and I am the least educated among them. They keep me around because I'm interesting. LOL!

Many years ago I attended a church singles group. One of the three self assumed leaders was constantly leading prayers. His prayers demonstrated his subservient weak mind set. Every prayer was about ---Oh Lord (WE) are not WORTHY. LOL I was there thinking what a weak minded fool! I am in this group with an idiot who thinks he speaks for me? At another meeting one of the leaders got up for his testimony and said he won over his wife that day in divorce court because his faith in God was stronger than hers. LOL ( I ) being 3 years into a 10 year divorce proceeding took took issue with that idiot right there for ALL to see. LOL After the meeting he and another so called leader cut me off on the parking lot! I thought OK I may be forced to kick some religious ass here on Gods parking lot. LOL They were lucky because all they wanted to do was pray. LOL The idiot claiming God took sides in divorce court did not set well with me because at the beginning of every hearing the exe would open her trusted Bible ceremoniously and display in in a way so the judge would notice. LOL After 2 years I was divorced but it took another 8 years of court to save property I had before I married that bleeper. LOL ANYWAY-----I sincerely hope that you fit well into your spiritual group. LOLOL Pray On!

I kept seeing these Christian memes congratulating themselves about getting out of or extolling the virtues of getting out of your Comfort Zone......On and on.....I googled "Christian Comfort Zone" and there were hundreds of pages of these memes and sermons and Christian articles about how important it was to step out of your Comfort Zone. I was floored......The message sure has changed, because last time I looked, the Christians were trying to sell Jesus and God and Faith as the source of all comfort......The Bible is chock full of advice to seek comfort in faith.....and the hymns and liturgy and sermons, what's going on here? Then I googled Christian comfort and Jesus comfort and Faith comfort and I got thousands of pages extolling the ultimate and constant comfort brought to you by the only great comforter in the sky..... Just eliminate the one word "Zone" and it's a whole other ball game.......Yes, Jesus/God/faith is the the most comforting you can get and you should seek it, but if Jesus comfort becomes a "zone", get out of there as fast as you can....... If you start googling Christian stuff, you will find a huge pile of reeking contradictions and more vacuous, meaningless word garbage than you could plow through in a lifetime......that's why ministers tell their flock to only listen to them and not to do any research.....and whatever you do, don't read the Old Testament, that will really screw with your head.

Personally, I would rather be with the Mennonites who were rebuilding the community after the flood disaster versus the "God Hates Atheist" sign carrying fools who protest at Military Funerals. Years ago, I belonged to a group from different churches who worked together to provide winter shelter for the homeless. We didn't talk about theology, we talked about helping people get out of the cold. That is where my values lay and my spiritual community supports those values.

Nutty behavior and nutty thinking folks come from all walks of life. Human beings are imperfect no matter what religion they belong or not belong. Christianity is about salvation based on faith.... but as Paul said, "Faith without works is dead." And in Corinthians, we read that even if we do all these religious things, if we don't have love, we are just a clanging noise. It is love that is to be the primary sign of a Christian, not spouting off and putting down others. Proverbs has much to say about a fool who can't hold his/her tongue but prattles on and on..... and that causes much division and strife, which is good for nobody and only makes the fool look more foolish and turns others away. I was so blessed to have good teachers who taught me to look for things I have in common with others, whether they went to my church, another church, or no church. We are to love people of every walk of life, period. We are to help others when we can, period. Sometimes, I may tell somebody that I am praying for them.... I don't mean that as an affront to their beliefs, just as an affirmation that I care enough to use my belief system to help them in the only way I know how. Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

This is so true! We called those "Granola Christians" because they were nuts and flakes that were so heavenly minded they were no earthly good. Sad that so many people judge a whole group by the actions and words of a few. I don't mean that as an affront to their beliefs, just as an affirmation that I care enough to use my belief system to help them in the only way I know how. When I heard the term Constitutional Conservative - I can totally relate. It means supporting and respecting another's right to believe or not believe whatever they want regardless of my own personal prospective. If someone wants to handle snakes to prove thier faith. Fine, just keep that snake away from me. If someone has a problem with gays, that's their right but don't go around committing hate crimes to justify it.. I don't know all the details and I really don't have to. Even the "Granola Christians" have a right to be. That may be the best that they can do and they can eventually progress to do better. I choose not to judge or figure out who is hell bound. That's not my job.

For whatever reason, my life does seem to work out better when I am part of a faith based community. I am fortunate that I found one that works within my "comfort zone." No evangelizing and preaching to the masses. No trying to browbeat folks into heaven with threats of an eternal lake of fire. . Being proactive in making the world a better place is what my comfort zone is all about. Attending protests for human rights and social causes is encouraged. They might bail you out if you get arrested but I am not going to test it. That is out of my "comfort zone."

Based on my life experiences, I have concluded that there is a divine power and there is definitely evil. The most honest response that I can give is that I don't really know all the details nor do I really have to figure it out. I don't believe that people who believe differently are destined to eternal torment in a lake of fire but there is accountability for wrong doings. It is my belief that we are on this earth to grow, learn, and progress. It happens on both sides. We all have character defects and shortcomings even church-going zealots. The goal is to learn from it, more forward, and do better. I had a glimpse of what the other side might be like in February when I had to be ambulanced to Charleston for emergency surgery. I don't know it all but more will be revealed

I have been to many christian churches from mega to mini. Each time I come away realizing how ridiculous it is.-----how the hucksters manipulate the weak minded who can not face reality. It is a lecherous burden on society. One church is led by old queer men who molest boys and protect each other from the normal laws of society. How freaking ridiculous is that church? Why would any sane parent let their child through the door? It makes me angry thinking about how extremely dumb some people can be.& then they marry and seek marital advice from an old queer guy who is sworn to celibacy UNLESS an innocent young boy becomes available. Then there was Jim Jones & his followers who poisoned themselves and their innocent children in the name of Jesus. Religion poisons the mind and makes mental invalids out of people. It makes me want to vomit.

Lil devout Christian is an understatement when it comes to my wife & her religion. She is highly educated, speaks two languages , ex church missionary, Ex school teacher, mother of a preacher, mother in law of a preachers daughter, mother in law of a medical Dr., and she prays prior to every decision she makes. Jesus advises her in everything she does. And that is only the beginning. LOL Obviously she is intelligent. She married me. LOL Pray On!

Not all who claim to be Christian are. Money preachers just make merchandise out of ignorant people who don't know their Scripture, or just don't care and like the crud they are dished out. Sadly the world looks at this, are not fooled and rejects the real deal because of it. The real stuff is helping people and giving not taking, not making empires. Judgment Day will be interesting - and all paths lead there.
