Photo Friday - The "F" Word

Federal Energy Regulatory Commission

My Quaker Girlfriend is very much the environmental activist and I have accompanied her on her many adventures. We have gone lobbying in Washington D.C. and were escorted out of the FERC building by the secret police.

Ironically, GF and I were behaving ourselves but the others around us were not. There were some who actually welcomed the idea of getting arrested for the cause. Call me a wuss, but I have no desire to get my hands zip-tied together, tossed into a paddy wagon and trying to figure out how to get out of the cage they throw me in.

I have been to a number of protests, demonstrations and other events in Washington D.C. I have learned to stay on the outskirts so that if there is trouble, I can get away from it quickly.

events that I cancelled plans attend were Charlottesville and the January th Event in Washington D.C. I am glad I didn't go.

Fairies have been very much on my mind but I blogged enough about them this week.

I believe it is a good thing to get involved with projects and causes about which a person feels passion and commitment. I have some of my own, and although I cannot physically participate, I can help others that can do it.

Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

I agree with the other bloggers that getting involved in these things is good for us and can be very entertaining.

It only takes a drop of ink to make a million people think. There are many stories.

GETTING INVOLVED IS ONE THING, PARTICIPATING IN DEMONSTRATIONS THAT ARE POTENTIALLY VIOLENT QUITE ANOTHER.

There is always the potential for violence in any demonstration. Fortunately, our local demonstration for racial justice with BLM folks was peaceful. There are always agitators . I stayed on the outskirts regardless. I had plans to go to Washington D.C. on January 10th but opted not to. The majority of folks who attended were peaceful and there was a group of fringe lunatics who caused trouble.

Glad to hear you've had a good experience with peaceful protests. Glad none of them turned ugly.

A day without dance is .... just kidding. I have no idea!

I wouldn't be the best person to be present at a protest so therefore it wouldn't be my thing. I realize that some of them are good causes.
