Photo Friday LIGHT!!!  As a youngster, My father would go fishing on the Ventura Pier and I would walk over to the Ventura Mission nearby and light candles to the Saints.Even now, in my travels, I tend to explore old churches and light candles to honor loved ones who have crossed over. A few years ago, I booked a bed at a Baltimore Hostel. I started google searching the cathedral which held the mortal remains of Cardinal Gibbons (my late husband's famous cousin) It was right across from the hostel that I booked. I went to the Baltimore Basilica to light a candle to honor Grumpy and his mother. They passed within a few months from each other in 20. The Baltimore Basilica claims to be the oldest catholic church in the United States but Cathedral in St. Augustine, Florida makes the same claim. St. Augustine, Florida is the oldest city in American founded by the Spanish. I took the bus to St Augustine and lit a candle for my Step Spiritual Advisor. She was catholic and what better way to honor her.     Abracadabra  |
