Half-Mast Flags, Love Letters, Trump and Cummings Yesterday, I was driving the Haunted Farm and I noticed several flags at half-mast. My thought was "Who died?" I knew that Maryland Congressman Elijah Cummings died the day before. I also know that the Maryland Congressman and President Trump were not exchanging love letters. I stopped at the Dollar Store on my way to the farm and gOOGLe searched to find the answer. President Donald J. Trump ordered flags at the White House and all public buildings, as well as at military and naval stations, to fly at half-staff through Friday. "My warmest condolences to the family and many friends of Congressman Elijah Cummings," President Trump tweeted earlier in the day. "I got to see first hand the strength,, passion and wisdom of this highly respected political leader. His work and voice on so many fronts will be very hard, if not impossible, to replace!" There is also a law that says that flags go at half-mast whenever any member of congress or the senate dies on the day of and the day after. It doesn't matter if Trump orders it or not. Maryland Rep. Elijah Cummings will lie in state in National Statuary Hall at the U.S. Capitol on Thursday, ahead of funeral service at his church of nearly four decades in his home district of Baltimore. There will be a public viewing in the two-story chamber following a formal ceremony for members of Congress, the Cummings family and invited guests on Thursday morning, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced. My thought was that either Trump is being a sycophant or actually acting professionally for a change. He was not voted in for his professional eloquence. So do you all, think that Trump will get an invite to his wake or do you think he'll send Malania in his stead like he did for McCain.  Abracadabra  |

I hadn't thought about it, but I guess he will probably send a representative, perhaps Melania. Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

sorry, not sorry.. my feeling... good riddance. Seeing this guy in action turned my stomach. If he had been more fair-minded and mature, different story. Kudos to tRump for taking the high road. Next... rbg? drain the swamp

I hadn't thought about it, but I guess he will probably send a representative, perhaps Melania. Melania doesn't strike me as a woman who takes orders from clowns. That explains (to me anyway) why she doesn't participate at all in Trump politics … and why she doesn't appear to be enjoying her job as First Lady

Most first ladies don't participate in politics. Hillary was different because she was a politician herself. They usually have a non-controversial "cause" that they promote. Melania did attend McCain's funeral along with Ivanka and her husband. It was turned into an anti-Trump circus. That had to be hard to watch. McCain's Funeral .. yeah right it's perfectly normal for a Vietnam War draft dodger presidential candidate to mock Vietnam War Vets and POWs ... it's normal for a presidential candidate to mock a Gold Star Mother. Last week it was normal for a US President to run away minutes before OUR PARTNERS IN WAR the Kurds Kurds began getting slaughtered .. BECAUSE "they weren't with us at Normandy" With all due respect to the First Lady … I couldn't be more sympathetic.
