Lessons and Testing - Life on Life's Terms

There are some folks who are of the opinion that they are smart enough to operate their lives without any belief in Divine Intervention, a Higher Power or any kind of faith. That's their business.
My life works better when I am "Higher Powered." That's my business.

The difference between and life?
In , you're taught a lesson and then given a test.
In life, you're given a test that teaches you a lesson.

It has been my experience that Life on Life's Terms is full of TESTS which gives us the opportunity to learn, progress and become better people. Such was my experience this week. Sunday after the Step Meeting, I drove to the grocery store. I made a few purchases and when I turned the key in the car. Click and Nothing. I was stranded night in the Food Lion Parking Lot. This is a helpless feeling because Grumpy is on the other side and there is no family nearby. My younger is working of state. I sent a quick message "Calling All Angels!" One of my girlfriends responded and picked me up.

This is my shortcoming, I am independent to a fault and it's very difficult for me to ask for help. Last year, I was on the train coming home from Atlanta. I had also been in Florida. I was feeling really horrible the entire trip and getting winded after walking a few feet. It was snowing when I got off the train, and I had to wait over an hour for the tow truck.

A few days later, I drove the car to the repair shop and started the walk home. Huffing and puffing and stopping every feet. Fortunately, one of my Step Friends, a man of faith stopped and drove home. We had a conversation about faith, death and moving on because I honestly believed was close to that transition.

The next I had to walk to the station to pick up the car. It was Hades. I couldn't even walk from one room to the next in my home without shortness of breath. I did make it to our Quaker Potluck on Sunday and told them. This is it, I am heading to the emergency room. Our clerk offered to drive me there himself or at least follow me, but I told him that I would be fine. When I got to the ER, the test result revealed a hemoglobin count of four. is the danger zone.

I ended up in ICU with blood transfusions while prepping for an upper GI endoscopy/colonoscopy - attached to monitors. Oh, what fun!

The Lesson I learned as a result of this TEST is to ASK FOR HELP.
I could have walked to the Food Lion parking lot but with arrhythmia, it's not a good plan. I called a girlfriend. She picked up and drove to the Food Lion parking lot. The Tow Truck drove the car and to the Car Dealer. My girlfriend picked up and drove home. So Sunday, I will go to the Quaker Meeting and meet her and the other angel for a Step Meditation Meeting. We'll go to a movie afterward.

It's a simple fix. The chip in my car key is missing. The problem is that General Motors is on strike so the car dealer hasn't been receiving supplies so I might be carless for a while.

That is a great weakness in us strong folks.... we tend to ignore symptoms and don't ask for help until the situation becomes critical. Hope you learned a lesson in all this. And why do we have to wait for it to happen to us before we really learn it. We see it happen to others all the time.

Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

Im afraid I have that weakness too, I never ask for anything. I would try to walk, just like you, and end up breathless and exhausted. This is how we are made. Its better to ask for help in tricky situations.
