AnotherRescue & ThoughtsOnAccountablityForSinsOfOurAncestors

Meet KateeLu - A new member of my household. I found her on the Wal-Mart discount "buy it for a dollar before it gets tossed into the trash bin" shelf. So I took her home. Clean water, new soil, and music by Alexis; she will be just fine.

Hedera helix aka the Canadian/Scottish Ivy is native to most of Europe and western Asia. Quite a bit of it also grows in North America.

Katie_au_lait 73F
points out the sins of America - stolen land, indigenous people firetrucked over ad infinitum in the name of religion and politics. Anyone who has any kind of faith or political beliefs differing from hers are deemed hypocrites.

Consider the history of Great Britain which was invaded by the Romans and the Viking to name a few. Great Britain turned around and created "The sun never sets on the British Empire." The United States is actually a product of that motto.

Most of us are so blended that our ancestors have been on both sides of an atrocity. My fourth Great Grandmother walked the Trail of Tears. My choice is either to return to Europe(God Forbid, they make me move back to Scotland) or demand reparation for the injustices done to my people. I am sure that Elizabeth Warren will agree with me.

Hedera helix aka the Canadian/Scottish Ivy was named for Katie and LuLu. The Canadian/Scottish Ivy is good for removing toxins in the air. KateeLu will have a place next to my Himalayan Salt Lamp which also cleanses the air.

I have a great grandmother who came to the United States because of the famine in Ireland. My 2nd Great Grandmother came as a widow with three children including my great grandmother who was a toddler. They had to stay at a detention center in Canada before they were allowed to come into the United States.

once moved into a house that had a lovely delicate ivy like that growing all along the walls in the living room. Immediately after moving in I thought to water the plant, thinking it might have been neglected during the transition........I looked and looked for the pot......followed the ivy path along the wall, across the built in bookshelves and the fireplace mantle, but it seemed to have been planted by Escher himself...........I finally figured out what was going on. About a foot above the mantel, there was a tiny hole....too small for a pencil to fit through, now filled with an Ivy stem.....and nurtured by former tenants......I went outside and found the plant.....just a root and a tall stem that grew in a corner between the chimney and the wall and disappeared through that little hole......I was delighted and told everyone about it and had to show them until I had told everyone several times and the begged me to stop.
“Only those who attempt the absurd...will achieve the impossible. I think ...I think it's in my basement...Let me go upstairs and check.” quoted by M.C. Escher

My late husband was even more Irish than I am. I did a paternal family tree for my two biological sons and my step-son (the Irish one) If any family deserves reparation, it would be his.

How sad for you! Sad that you couldn't understand what I was actually saying , and sad that you felt you had to delete my words and then distort them to suit your own nasty little hypocritical agenda.

To go on making the same mistakes our ancestors made, and expecting a different outcome, is a good definition of madness.

So your British ancestors starved my Irish ancestors out of Ireland. So who is the finger-pointing hypocrite? I just raised $$$$ to help Syrian refugees, what have you done except to criticize and name-call others who have different spiritual views from yourself.

But you are so deleteable. I'm glad she did.

What a delightful addition to your family.
As for the past, it is gone, and we can only work hard and pray the bad parts never be repeated.
BTW, Jade Star is getting new leaves! She must be happy on my window sill.

nasty little hypocritical agenda???? Anyone who has any kind of faith or political beliefs differing from yours, are deemed hypocrite. There was a time when we could travel to Canada and Mexico freely but those days are gone after 9/11. I favor securing the borders and revising the immigration laws so that people can travel through the doors of the port of entries - safely and legally.

If I travel to any foreign country, I expect to be screened with my luggage examined before entering that country. There is nothing hypocritical about expecting the same for people from other nations.

I had so much fun putting together and packaging the Jade Star. I had to research on YouTube to find the best way to send it. I am glad she is doing well in her new home.

My daughter just brought me a little "fairy cactus" plant. It's a cute little thing with a couple of fake flowers glued on it and I hope it will like sitting on my window sill next to Jade Star. I haven't figured out a name for it yet.

I am sure that they are going to be great friends. Ironically, I am putting together a "Fairy Garden" entry for the State Fair next year. I may just use a South West Theme for it.
