Peaches, Peaches For Pizza, Pizza

This afternoon I was shopping and customers frequently ask me where to find a product. I encountered a grouchy old man on a riding cart who was grumbling about asking an employee about peaches, he was told aisle four and they were nowhere to be found. "I bet I can help you find them," I told him. I looked down aisle 4 and saw a section marked canned fruit. "Peaches are on aisle four," I informed him.

"I don't want any @#!%!* peaches, I want PIZZA!" "What wrong, can't you hear!" I explain to him, "Actually, my hearing is NFG but it's easy to mix pizza and peaches. Try Aisle One in the Freezer Section."

Later, I found him in the Freezer Section grumbling to a teenage employee about where is the pepperoni pizza! I bent over to whisper in his ear, "Frozen peaches are on the other end of aisle two in the freezer section." His response, "I don't want any @!#$%! Peaches!" My answer, "maybe you should get some peaches because you are such a peach yourself" Laughing, he answered, "Maybe I should!" Hopefully, he left the store in a better mood than when he came in.

I was born hard of hearing so I am used to getting words mixed up.

I think it is easier for those of us born with hearing loss to deal with it than those who lose it as adults. There are people who are very callous regarding hearing issues. My experience as a child has made me anti-establishment to this day. I just look at those people and I am glad that I don't have those kinds of values. I figure they will eventually progress. I've just learned to laugh at my tendency to mess up on the words. Today was a good example.
