Alcohol Sales, Puerto Rican , A Grouchy Old Man & His Wife

Nope. Third party alcohol sales for minors are a no-no. They left and the next customer had a fit because they were speaking Spanish. He told me that I was right to not sell them beer because they didn't speak English. If someone appears to be over 40, we had to check their ID. Sometimes, I would tell a customer that I was certain they were over 21 but I wasn't sure they were over 40. Once, I carded a woman on her 65th Birthday. I never buy alcohol but I can't imagine anyone carding me.

THE LEGAL AGE FOR BUYING ALCOHOL AND FOR BUYING LOTTERY TICKETS IS 18 HERE. THAT 21 THING KIND OF GETS TO ME, THERE IS ALMOST ALWAYS SOMEONE OVER 21 TO BUY BEER ANYHOW. LIVING IN A TOURIST REGION, WE GET A LOT OF CUSTOMERS WHO DON'T SPEAK A WORD OF FRENCH AND SOMEHOW WE SURVIVE.

I have never understood why, here in America we can place our lives on the line to join our military forces at the age of 18 but we must be 21 to purchase any kind of alcohol.
