West Virginia Elections and the Russians

Last month, I was a poll worker for the city election. I thought that it was interesting because the mayor and city council members were running uncontested but legally there has to be an election regardless. They all have to get at least one vote in order to take office.

It is also interesting because any task has to be completed by two members of opposing parties. There were four people working on the table for our district. I was not allowed to sit next to the Republican. I had to sit between a Democrat and an Independent. Everyone treated each other with respect regardless of political differences. MAGA hats and Pink Pussy Ear Hats were not allowed.

I don't see how any kind of election fraud would be possible considering the way the different parties worked with each other. I will probably be working with the same crew for the 2020 elections. It should be a bit more eventful than this election. I usually vote early at the courthouse. The Russians better start working on learning West Virginia Lingo if they are going to interfere with the elections.

Can you imagine what it would be like if some of the members in SFF Blogland worked together as poll workers in an election?

In our area, the poll workers were usually the same folks, election after election. Friends and neighbors, they knew most everyone personally who came in to vote.
But rules were followed..... we showed our voter registration cards, they were checked off against the list of registered voters, we signed for our ballots and entered the voting booths. After voting, our ballots were returned to one of the workers and it was put into the ballot box as we stood there and watched.
All the while, everyone was talking and laughing. Nobody cared who was of what party. We were all just exercising our duty to vote.
Now, Joe and I vote early at the court house...... slightly different process because it's electronic, but same results and same spirit of friendliness.
