Sacred Herbs, Java Plants and Plan B

Last week, I was walking through the Wal-Mart Gardening Section looking for citronella and lavender plants with none to be found. I talked to an associate about ordering them and went home to research. I can get the plants along with a 12 dollar delivery fee which cost more than the actually plants themselves. It's either hurry up and wait or plan b.

This afternoon, I stopped at the local produce place in town. There is a greenhouse next to it. I asked the gentleman about lavender plants but he couldn't find any. I stepped out of the greenhouse to inspect what I though were rosemary plants. The tags indicated that they were lavender plants. Yippee!!!!

I stepped inside the store to pay for the lavender and a jar of blackberry jam. The lady had some adorable coffee plants on her counter. I told her how her hubby could not find the lavender but I walked right to it. My Higher Power REALLY wanted me to have that lavender. I talked to her about Citronella plants but they were all sold. One customer brought ALL of them. Heck, Darn, Blast and other words to that effect!!!!!

I drove over to the dollar store to find a container for my new herbal additions. I kept thinking about that adorable coffee plant. I finally drove back to the Produce place and told the lady, "that coffee plant REALLY wants to live with me!" I also found some lemon thyme with serves the same purpose as Citronella.

I found all these plants for a little more than the cost of the shipping, I would have paid Wal-Mart. It is also a major league boost to support a local business.

Great finds! I haven't even started planting anything for our patio. First it was cold and rainy, then suddenly it was hot and rainy. I have several things to get done this next week, but maybe I'll find time to fix a couple of pots of flowers.

I like to grow lavender......smells lovely in my underwear drawer, keeps the moths out of my woolens and silks and the spiders out of the corners ...the flowers are pretty and such a gentle colour and the deer don't eat it.....they don't eat the Rosemary either........Sounds like you had a real adventure finding plants......you always sound like you're on an adventure.......
