My was Named after a Fomous Singer I never heard Sing

I met Ferlin at the Doggie Jail. Two sad mismatched puppy eyes looking outside the cage communicating that he wanted the heck out of there.

The first day, the mutt came to live with us, we were strolling in downtown Lewisburg and went into the Confederate Graveyard. An older lady admiring the asked his name. I told her that I didn't know because I just acquired him.

She noted his Husky heritage and suggested the name Ferlin. That worked for me so Ferlin is who he became. He is a much loved member of the household.

A few days ago, I was gOOgleseaching a song by Creedance Clearwater Revival. I found it interesting that Ferlin Husky sang it first. It occurred to be that my is named after a singer that I've never heard sing.

Ferlin Husky was popular in the 1950's when I was an army brat in Germany. I remember Marching Tunes that Sargent Dad taught us and a few German Beer Drinking Songs but no Ferlin Husky. We returned to the United States. I became a . Bell bottoms and the Beatles were on the horizon. I listen to Creedance Clearwater Revival but never heard of Ferlin Husky until I met the lady in the Confederate Graveyard. Nevertheless, then namesake should be honored. An Awesome mutt is named after him

Ferlin Husky is one of my favorite country artists from that long ago time. I was a typical rock-n-roll teenager when the Beatles and their style burst on the scene. I didn't care for them at all at the time and so my music preference drifted towards country and western.

As Barbara Mandrell sang it: "I was country when country wasn't cool."

Ferlin Husky had many popular hit songs but my favorite still has to be "Wings of a Dove"

"On the Wings Of a Snow White Dove" was actually inspired by the story of Noah's Ark. The Dove was sent out to find dry land.
