Washington DC, Bunkbeds, Lobbying & Suggestion for NY Congresswoman Elect

I am currently in Washington D.C. for a FCNL Lobbying Event. Both West Virginia Senators support the bill which makes it easy, we can thank them for thier support, add a few suggestions and move on to other issues.

We are staying at the William Penn House and it seems to be "put the old broads on the top bunk" time. Oh what fun! One of the younger women offered to change beds which we will do tomorrow but for tonight, my senior azzzzzz made it up that top bunk so it's staying put. My lobbying buddy is having problems with the snoring. We are sharing a dorm with 10 women. I take out my hearing aids and don't hear a thing.

I was thinking about the New York Senator Elect who was expressing the fact that she couldn't afford an apartment in DC because she wouldn't get paid until three months after getting in office.

We are sending her suggestion to stay at the William Penn House. It is walking distance from the Capitol with Senate and Congressional Buildings on either side. There is a great old time breakfast café a few blocks away and one more block is a really great Shakespearean Theatre. There is no smoking, drinking, or television at the William Penn House. There is an optional Silent Worship in the morning.

If the accommodations are too simple at WPH, there are other hostels with mixed dorms, television, booze is allowed and even marijuana which is legal in
Washington D.C
.

Footnote to Scotland Lassie - I am not being written out of my Quaker Worship Group or the FCNL because of my Republican Status. In fact, my newly acquired Republican Boyfriend is accompanying me to one of our potlucks.

I am a former welfare caseload worker and have quite a few stories to tell them. It is interesting how the homeless people liked to register as Republican We. are lobbying on a farm bill with issues regarding EBT.

Laughing here at the thought of climbing to the top bunk..... I would rather sleep on the floor, I think.
As for the complainer about not getting paid for 3 months, maybe she could sell some of her wardrobe to finance an apartment. Or get one "on credit" or doesn't housing trust Congress folks to pay their bills? rofl. OR, she should have thought about that and planned for her future more carefully.
If someone is that careless about finance, why do we trust them to handle the country's finances?
I remember seeing a program a few years ago about junior congressmen actually sleeping in their offices............... hmmmm, wonder why we don't hear of senior congressmen having those kind of financial difficulties? I guess politics is a profitable business, eh?

I just wanted you to know that you might want to delete this post. Once again you've exposed your astonishing ignorance. Why are you so stupid anyway?

Leaf, you are a jerk! Mrs. Joe and I have often been on opposite sides of the political spectrum but I have the ultimate respect for her. It's a lesson you need to learn.

I have to lobby with folks on both sides of the hall and this is humanity on both sides. West Virginia has three Republicans in Congress, A Republican Senator and our lone Democrat Senator Manchin. They were all on the same page with the Farm Bill that we have been lobbying on. This makes it easy to discuss other issues.

This Freshman Congresswoman from New York was a bartender and might have difficulties getting into an apartment in Washington D.C versus our Buffalo Farmer Lady in Red from West Virginia. They also have to maintain thier homes in the State that they represent. WV Congressman Evan Jenkins (R) DID sleep on a cot in his office. He is leaving the office to join the WV Supreme Court. Republican Carol Miller is taking his place. I will be meeting with her next week at the Republican Christmas Dinner. The GOP has definitely improved my love life.
