West Virginia Directions versus Map Quest

When I first moved to West Virginia - I was always amazed by the West Virginia Style of giving Directions.......... Head toward - Alderson Way to the Burnt Up Old Barn by the Willow Trees - There is a cluster of Mail Boxes by an Old Gum Tree. Go up up an old dirt road next to a pasture of Black Angus Horses with an old graveyard inside of it. It is a blue and yellow House surrounded surrounded by Buckeye Trees.

I have gotten pretty good at giving directions to my house. That main highway, I can never remember what number it is - 2.1 miles from the scenic road. Follow the Road along the river to end of the mountain - head for the old quarry - for .9 my house is surrounded by dreamcatchers and next to an old abandoned church.

This Morning, I had to pick up ex-hubby at the bus station in the city. I have driven to this bus station before but I still have a talent for getting lost in the big city. I have been away from Los Angeles for too long. I decided to fire up a MapQuest just to be safe. The directions were terrible. They took me through stressful, crazy downtown Beckley. I decided to take the directions in my memory instead. Alderson Way to I-64 and up Sandstone Hill - Oh Joy - HarperWay to the exit that says Veteran's Hospital. one point two miles and Voila - The bus station. I was able to pick up ex-hubby with two minutes to spare.

Don't You Just Love MapQuest????
