No More Area 1499 and now an "Official Quaker!"

Quite a few years back, I started keeping company with the Quakers. The feeling was like 'Cha Ching!" I like these folks and I am hanging around them. Union Organizers were arrested a few Black Fridays ago for trespassing at Area 1499. One member suggested that we arrange a Sit-In. I was REALLY looking forward to participating in a Sit-In at my employer's storefront.

Happily and at same time sadly - the charges were dropped thus no sit-in.

Grumpy and I had a complicated relationship but I was there for him at the end. The demands of my job often caused me to miss the Quaker Meetings. I told my employer that I not going to be isolated from my spiritual community ever again. I went through some intense grieving after Grumpy's death and really needed my Spiritual Community.

Area 1499 dignitaries declared that I was not to have my Sunday's off so y Quaker friends organized to have a "chat" with the bosses. I got my Sunday's off.

I told the Union Organizers that I would work with them to get the message to my fellow associates. I really didn't care if I got fired. I would have like to have gotten fired for Union Organizing but they found an even stupider reason. I had the Flu which required a Medical LOA. Who ever goes to the doctor for the Flu and by the time I could get an appointment - No Flu.

Que Sera Sera! I thanked them for firing me and walked out of there singing. It was a blessing.

Now I have a new job and I am officially a member of the Religious Society of Friends. It has been so empowering being a part of that group.

Society of Friends is a very noble group!

I took one of those "Which denomination is right for you" tests online a few years ago, and my view were said to fit best with Orthodox Quaker. So I did some reading about them and I have to say I was impressed!

I didn't choose to join their denomination myself tho, and it's not that I don't admire them and what they stand for. I just know that I personally could never be pacifistic in all circumstances.

Very glad you found a spiritual family that's right for you!

GBU,

Gavin
