My First Day...

I have never really been to downtown Fort Myers.. being from a big city like Chicago it is very different... to me it's like a Mayberry RFD town.. with a little modern twists to it!

Working downtown Chicago to drive and park would not only be bumper to bumper rush hour.. the cost of parking a full day would eat up a good portion of your paycheck!

I drove downtown and parked in the parking garage around the corner from where I work.. I parked on the second floor and took the steps.. lol.. but coming back to the garage I took a different set of steps and ended up on the 3rd floor! where did my car go!! lol.. ohhh I'm on the Third Floor..lol.. so down I went and there was my car.. the cost... some exercise and $2.50 for the day! WOW! I couldn't believe it..

The first thing I did was fill out the usual paperwork - insurance and all that.. I was told originally insurance would start 90 days.. it starts Feb. 1st! Thank God! I thought that's not 90 days by anyone's calendar! lol..

I was introduced to the other people who work there.. 2 men and 5 women.. then it was off to the branch to open an account. The 1 of 2 branches was only down the block and around the corner - when I walked in.. I was taken back at how beautiful everything was! The floors were hard wood.. large slats of wood polished to just the right finish. The floor then comes to a wooden teller cage.. with the most beautiful wood and finish I have ever seen! It was I think a 2 teller cage and sat in the middle of the room - not like the other banks I worked for that outlined the wall.. It was just like one of those old movies.. I thought it very beautiful and I kept saying.. gosh I love it here!

Then back to work which was lunchtime now.. so I ate my lunch that I packed and completed the rest of my insurance papers.. the Owner came by and said... how you doing so far? I told him I doing well..and he said.. I have a project for you.. I said already! lol.. he said yep.. so the afternoon started my first dabble on a report that will soon become my responsibility to balance.. to be honest.. it felt good to be doing the work I used to do in Chicago..

After that project was done it was about 4:55pm - and I was told to wrap it up.. so I did and said good-night to everyone. I started at 9am yesterday.. today I start at 8:30... not my normal hours but that is when they want me in! lol..

All in all.. I think it was a very good first day! I am glad I took that leap...

Thanks all for your comments and thoughts..

Have a great day today..
