MONOLOGUE # 3 ACT 2 RICHARD He is one of the best men in the world. And his own worst enemy. Some what because of me and somewhat because of the rest of him. He is 56 and somewhat overweight. He wears glasses and his hair is thin. So he sees himself like that. He is not a great talker, sort of a geek. And has a tooth missing that shows when he laughs or during a big smile. His skin is pretty pale. So he sees himself like that. As his penis I have to admit that I am less than average in size. Quite a bit less actually. And he is very aware of that. He has no sense of how to dress and tends to look like a nerd. He does not know that about himself. He never has a date, much less sex and he is confused about what to do in lovemaking. He thinks a woman would laugh at him in bed. So he will never try. On the other hand: He is generous. Loving A hard worker and valued employee A churched man Loves and animals Trustworthy Loyal Gentle Clean in body and mind A good , brother, and uncle He encourages others Never forgets a birthday Returns every phone call Pays his bills on time Gives to charity He can repair his own car And computer And house He would make a great husband Father And grandfather But he doesn’t see himself like that. He just looks in the mirror And combs his thin hair And looks down at me And gives up. We only need a woman who will see him for what he is Not for what he thinks he is not And she is out there Perhaps many are out there But we will never know Because of how he sees himself Sigh |
