I remember last year we went to the Post Office and there was a sign saying, "Due to weather it was CLOSED"! I said to someone also in the lobby, so much for through rain, through snow, etc. She laughed and said she thought so too.

If we made it across town through rain, through snow...etc. so could the Postal Workers. One of them lives across the street from us.

On Tues, I called our local post office and asked if the rural carriers would be doing the route on Wed, with the brutal forecast. The postmistress told me yes, there were no plans to cancel deliveries at that time. So I told her to hold our mail delivery until the next day. I didn't want our carrier driving down our road and I didn't want to get outside to go to the mailbox either.
The I heard the announcement from the Post Office, and again today for us. I heard of restaurants closing, schools, daycare, and other businesses.
With those frigid wind chills, I don't think nonessential workers should take the chance. "Normal" winter weather will return.
Maybe I am just getting old?

Wow Earthy that is pretty brutal. Years ago when I lived in Edmonton, Alberta I recall in the 60's we had sub zero temperatures for 20 some odd days. It was a record at that time. I remember going to work and going back home and that was about it. I was really bundled up. I also had to catch a bus but guess I knew what time it came so I didn't have to freeze standing and waiting for it. Those were the days. Stay safe and hope you are stocked up with food.
