Autumn

.... nah, this isn't about the season ....

This is about my friend, Autumn, whose birthday is today. I haven't sent her gift or card yet. That is because about 20 years ago, I missed her birthday for about 16 years in a row.

Then I sent her a gift (on time!) for her 39th birthday. She wrote a lovely thank you note and PS'ed it with "You need to know that as much as I love the gift, I have gotten used to having my birthday stretched out by your lateness. I enjoy the luxury or being celebrated for days on end. Can you be late from now on?"

Good friends can accomodate these things. So I am going to mail her present on Friday. That way she can celebrate all weekend! LOL

Who knew a friendship made in mutual misery in Sister Claire McCann's geometry class would be such a beautiful thing?!

Anyone else have wonderful longterm friends like Autumn and me?

Pain & suffering are inevititable, but misery is optional.

I have a friend in California, I am in Indiana. We have been friends for 41 years (I can remember as my youngest daughter was 4 months old). We moved across the street from her and started our friendship. We went to Hawaii in 2004. She and her husband come every 5 years to visit and I have been there, one year she and her husband and my ex and I met in San Francisco for a few days. She and another gal are coming to visit next year, the 3 of us will "hang" for a bit. We have been through lots of upheavels in our lives. We have cried on each others shoulders more times than we can count. Sometime we send birthday gifts, sometime just a card or a phone call. We are best friends and will be for the rest of our lives. Thanks, this was fun! Ann
