Nun of That, Now!

Lately my life has been about balancing the challenging with humor. My sister is on the social justice committee at her church (to get this completely you have to know we are Catholic) and they are looking at the issue of inequity in health insurance. The discussions have been long and heated .. and really wearing on my sister as she has a who is pregnant with no health insurance. The following came in the email and I sent it to my sister suggesting she deflate some of the tension by telling this story:

A man had a heart attack and was put into a hospital run by nuns. He received excellent care for a couple weeks and was healed well enough to begin contemplating going home.

A nun from the business office came to see him about payment for the services. She asked if they should be billing his insurance company and what it was, but he had no insurance. Nor did he participate in any govt health programs.

"well," said Sister, "do you have family who can help?"

He replied that the only family he had is a spinster sister who is a nun.

The nun from the business office gets insulted and chastises him that nuns are NOT spinsters, thank you very much, but are married to Jesus Himself!

So the man looks at her calmly and says "fine. send the bill to my sister's father-in-law."
