Need a light
This is a carbon Arc headlamp used on turn of the century interurban electric railway cars, the second photo shows the carbon electrode on the bottom that separates and generates an arc between it and the ground above it. This produces the light and the lens on it similar to a projector lens causes the light to be amplified in diameter and distance. The wood handle in the last photo is how you plugged it into terminal plugs on the front of the railway cars these are extremely bright similar actually more like to a searchlight like you would have seen used in world war II

 Pretty cool. My ex collected train stuff, has a garage full of it! His third wife said there's barely any room in there to park her car.

 that is so cool ok i have to ask where did you manage to find that beauty?? i am into finding old treasures also one never know what one might find down some dead end country road lol

I found this on eBay years ago also another one was for sale but it had been converted to a normal house light bulb

 Ty yuppers it is we have one on one of the street cars at the Western railway Museum I have seen it lit up at night

 Wow these are really cool photos. Yeah I had that problem with photos being sideways when I posted them on here but discovered that I have to take the photos on my cell when the phone is horizontal not vertical.
