MY 1959 SCHWINN GREEN PHANTOM

THIS WAS MADE IN SEPT 1959 ACCORDING TO SERIAL NUMBER.

this was last thing my DADDY bought me. he died 12 25 1960.

it is still in good shape. 1 original white wall tire. cosmetic clean up, needed, surface rust on fenders. horn and light is gone.

knee action, or a bikes version of shock absorbers.

i have not ridden it is a while. i have new tubes , white walls. it is one speed. no fancy 47 different gears.

MY BROTHER HAD ONE RATHER LIKE THAT BUT FROM THE LATE 40's AND BECAUSE HE WAS A POST-POLIO, THEY PUT A SMALL MOTOR ON IT WHEN HE WAS 16. I HAD A THIN-WHEEL RED ONE AROUND 1954 BUT NO HAND BREAKS AND ONLY ONE SPEED. THE LAST BIKE I RODE IS STILL ON THE BALCONY, ALL 18 SPEEDS OF IT.

THERE ARE SO FEW THINGS WE CHERISH, YOU ARE RIGHT TO HOLD ON TO THAT BIKE. AND LEAVE IT TO SOMEONE YOU THINK WILL HOLD ON TO IT WHEN YOU ARE GONE.

archer, you are very correct. sad thing is with my kids being estanged. i dont hav that option. how ever my x gf's kids and grandkid think of me as their dad and papa.

so i am sure they will be ones to get it.

i have drug my feet so i have to get things in writing. i doubt my kids would be inteested in any thing i have. they got it all after their mom died. so i will soon decide how it will be set up. i have good friend that is an attorney. i will lean on his advice. enjoy ur evening thhere
