Transitions

”But when fall comes, kicking summer out on its treacherous ass as it always does one day sometime after the midpoint of September, it stays awhile like an old friend that you have missed. It settles in the way an old friend will settle into your favourite chair and take out his pipe and light it and then fill the afternoon with stories of places he has been and things he has done since last he saw you.”

I think the leaves falling is sad. It’s just another reminder that the warmth and memories of the summer are fading away once more. Even though the winter is beautiful in its own way (much like people are) nothing compares to beach days, summer BBQ’s, and sleeping under the stars.

Thank you maudie! I’m hoping the Farmer’s Almanac is right and that September and October are going to be unseasonably warm, carrying a little bit of summer into the cooler months.

Ahhh.... of course~ Well written!

Autumn is my favourite season... the colours, the smells, the sound of the geese flying south.

Autumn has its own charm. Everything you just mentioned plus of course Halloween. I prefer a gradual transition into the cooler days though. One by one by one.
