Ides of March

I find it both amazing, as well as, ironic we remember the murder of a Roman General more than 2000 years after his death. I doubt the murder of Lincoln or Kennedy will have such an endurance.

On the Ides of March in 1941 a major blizzard struck the upper Midwestern Plains of the USA killing 166 stranded people. The History Guy covers the disaster much better than I can. I will post a link below if you are interested in the topic.

We all remember the theme to the TV show "GREEN ACRES"

Farm livin' is the life for me.......

What they failed to mention is the POO that occasionally gets tracked into the house!

Last fall we received a shipping box with some parts JD needed. I tossed the box out back so it wouldn't get busted up. I think after it gets dried out I will edge the top in some nice trim boards, fill the nail holes, then paint it.

I will cut some nice 4" X 4" feet for the bottom side then fill it with potting soil. I am thinking Coleus or short Marigolds in it for the patio

Pinkie I have not forgotten the recipe for the Mediterranean Salad Dressing but today I am a bit too ill for salad. I will get it posted ASAP. I have a couple boxes of Spring Mix salad fixings to use up. I'd planned a Caesar Salad for the Ides of March but I just can't do it today. WINDY !!!! 47 F.... 9 C here with rain ? snow in the forecast for tomorrow and Friday.... a heck of a St Patrick's Day mess.

Here is the link to the short video covering the Winter Storm that an Alberta Clipper delivered to the Upper Midwest in 1941. This should get you there. If not let me know.

it is so much fun to look at something that most people would just throw instead look at it and see all the possibilites that might be created

it is so much fun to look at something that most people would just throw out BUT instead to see all the things that one might create instead it is great to have lots of imagination

Seren I enjoy creating something out of nothing. It may last a few years making a pleasant flower "pot"

Point well taken Dw. I thought I'd hold the plastic liner in place with the top trim board and cut away excess.

That planter will look great filled with different colored marigolds. They are so easy to grow, drought and drowning resistant, and bloom all season long. Great idea for repurposing a shipping box.

I tried to view the 1941 blizzard video and got the message: "This video isn't available anymore". I hope you don't get a significant storm Thu and Fri. It was nice and sunny here Thu, 37C, near calm. I did find time to walk the dog after brunch, and lunch with lots of birthday cake.

It's going to be sunny here for the next 7days with all the high temps above freezing. The sun has enough warmth to it that I can sit outside against the house in a t-shirt and soak up the rays. My face has developed quite a tan already.

Darter, I hope you are feeling well enough to get ready for spring. The planting season is always super busy on your farm.

Thanks Roger. I just brought it in from the shop to dry better beside the fireplace.

Enjoy your cake and warm weather. We are shivering with the cold snap only 20 F and windy as usual

Checked up on the Caddy... it is an Allante.... I just drove through to see what it was; I needed to hurry home with lunch. Cute car looks very well cared for just have to see how tomorrow goes with the closing on the property.
