Bretty's Peach Pie

Sometimes I Cheat and buy ready made pie crust. Unless you make a bunch of pies on a regular basis you can't keep the lard around to do it.

Remember those cheap canned peaches I bought ? Grab a can of them and a can of apple sauce .

If you happen to have one of those handy Danish food processors open your can of peaches and dump it in. Then add 1/2 cup sugar, 2Tablespoons cornstarch, a dash of cinnamon, ground cloves, and allspice.

Then give it a stir chopping the peaches and blending in the other ingredients.

Top this off with the can of apple sauce blending it in too.

Center your pie crust in your deep dish pie plate.. Remember to poke a few holes in the crust with a fork to prevent trapped air bubbles . Then pour your fruit filling in.

Center your top crust over the fruit filling and seal the edges. Cut a few vent hole in the top crust to allow trapped steam to escape. Place in a 350 degree oven for about 45 minutes.

Bake to a golden brown crust allowing to cool slightly before attempting to cut a piece of perfect pie.

There is nothing like a piece of warm pie fresh from the oven with a glass of milk or place a generous dollop of ice cream on top. Mmmmmm !

Guilty... as charged.. I took a taste of warm pie before I took the picture.....A coolish windy day here 28 F ...-2 C is what the car said. I am really getting sick of Winter. I watched a really good video on BEEF & NOODLES... the guy knows how to cook but we like our meat gravy to simmer longer. Tonight is just steak, eggs, and hashbrowns with cheese. My Legal Team did not get back to me early enough as to whether I needed a disclaimer at the beginning of the FOODIE Blog or not.

That's a great pie recipe Bret. Like Special, I am not a pie baker, and at my age, have no desire to start learning the craft. I love pie, but will splurge and buy one from the store one or twice a year, usually Thanksgiving or Christmas. I was at the store today and found a small banana chocolate chip cake marked down to 1/2 price that I got for my birthday on Thursday. After putting $40 of gas in the yellow taxi, I was broke and came home. Got out the pressure washer and cleaned the salt off the taxi.

It got to a blistering 48F this afternoon, with little wind and some cloud. It was warmer here than in the city where it only got to 42F. The forecast calls for possible flurries tonight, Tue and Wed.

Pinkie Buy the ready made crusts and go for it. The crusts are the hardest part of a pie...

The Peach cookies are good too, but give this a try when you have fresh peaches available there.
