Easy Orange Scones ! These orange scones are a bit different, they don’t have any dried fruits in them. The recipe is a well know scone recipe. The scones that Queen Elizabeth loved are flavored with orange zest and orange blossom water or orange flavoring. These orange scones are served with orange marmalade, traditionally, and, of course, clotted cream.. you may use a sweetened cream cheese.

Don't be shy... If you can make biscuits you can do these.

1-7/8 cups self-raising flour white if too moist add a touch more flour.
1-teaspoon baking powder
2.5Tablespoons of butter-- room temperature
2-Tablespoons of sugar
– orange flavoring
– orange zest
1* egg
1/2 cup milk

Mix the dry components by hand with the butter until it resembles bread crumbs. After that, add the beaten egg, milk, and the flavoring. ( a few drops of the orange flavoring should suffice. )
It takes less than 2 minutes to make the dough. The dough does not need resting, so roll the dough 3/4" and cut the scones.A Round biscuit cutter works for me.. Put them on a baking parchment or a greased non-stick tray. Bake the scones for 10 to 15 minutes. I would suggest flipping the tray after 8 minutes, so the scones can bake evenly. It’s not necessary if you are using a fan assisted oven. Brush with melted butter.

Serve with Sweetened cream cheese and orange jam or marmalade.

Do you like scones? Have you ever tried orange scones before?

Mmmm I made a batch of orange marmalade at Christmas time we received so many oranges in fruit baskets we could not keep up... It is easy to make if you run across a few inexpensive oranges in the store. I just remove the tags and stems put them peal and all into the blender with a little added OJ so the fruit will churn up. Add the SURE JELL and a scant cup of sugar for every cup of orange pulp. The blender just makes it easier that CRAP to do... You may do it in the old way but I am in 2021. I sweeten cream cheese to put on English muffins or scones then add the Orange Marmalade. Buy a jar in the store to see if it fits your tastes. OR I can have STR give you my address and I will send you some.
