1930's Technology

I'd purchased a delicious Hy Vee Pineapple Ham. It worked great in a batch of scalloped potatoes a few nights ago.

Digging in the back of the cupboard I retrieved what is probably JD's grandmothers meat slicer. Heaven only know how much meat this has sliced for "Thrashers" over the years. I even dig it out for roast beef and to make pulled pork from a pork shoulder.

I just did some breakfast slices and a few for sandwiches.... Grilled cheese and ham MMMmmmm !

I'd already filled three bags of breakfast slices before I thought this might make a good "Old Times" blog. Siegie is ok. The Vet can't get here until Wednesday ... he is just booked way over his head. Ruby is back to "normal." A sunny day 46 F... 8 C with a breeze that has changed directions several times today.

There's a reason the old stuff like that is still around they don't build them like that anymore

I'm sure glad to hear both the critters are doing well and I hope they get a good bill of health from the vet

Our Vet is getting old and has had bypass surgery. We don't try to rush or push him. He has taken care of our critters for years.

LOL ! Mmmm we had pancakes, eggs, and ham steaks for dinner tonight. I generally think of corn fritters which we have for any meal too.

I wish I had a meat slicer. Doing it with a knife is difficult and dangerous when you get older. The pineapple ham looks delicious.

We had 4" of snow yesternight, none today, but tonight there is an E wind at 25 to 40 mph, snow, blowing snow, and drifting snow. I am glad I am not out on the highway. It is 19F and falling rapidly. We are under a Severe Winter Storm Warning.

The next four days is rain, sleet, ice, and snow for us with plummeting temps. A good time to bake bread and make stew.

Pineapple ham sounds really tasty. Can't beat nice lean tender ham.

This pineapple ham is sweet, juicy, and flavorful beyond the normal ham.
