Ditzy Blond Day

Just one of THOSE Days........... My man Martin and I painted a hallway at one of my units. I cut in the edge and move drop clothes while Martin manned the roller. Think we got it done in record time! I stopped by KFC for our dinner tonight... (NO SLAVING OVER A HOT STOVE ! ) MUTTs Inc met me at the door when I got home as if I'd been gone for MONTHS.. ( then they noticed the scent of KFC ) !

Stuffed with KFC I thought I'd better get caught up on the computer. On my page popped up an *1808* recipe for Baked onions.... hmmm not everyone likes onions , however, both of us do. I watched the video then looked at several others on the topic. I hate to admit after all my cooking and recipe posting it NEVER dawned on me to bake onions like I do potatoes and squash. At any rate here's the suggestion;

How to roast onions.
Directions

Adjust the oven rack to a lower position; preheat the oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
Roast in the preheated oven until onions are tender ... 25 to 30 minutes. Remove from the oven and adjust seasonings as necessary. I thought we can toss them in the oven with baked potatoes and a meatloaf with that oowie goowie red sauce topping.

Another method was to peal the onion, wrap in tinfoil, top with a pat of butter, and your choice of seasonings.

I forgot... That top baking method said that after the onion is baked to cut off the root end then give it a squeeze and the baked onion will just pop out. The car said 4 C ... 38 F with a Sunny sky and moderate breeze. This whole week is to be above freezing every day. I am wanting to pick up a couple matching sweet potatoes to get planted in pots for pretty foliage greenery at the end of the walk.

I have never thought of baking onions either. I have a bunch of the lying around now. I should consider the recipe. I like my onions raw on burgers.

It was 45F here today, but windy and partly cloudy. I walked the dog 3.2 km and there was very slippery ice in spots. The wind made the walk a bit chilly. Tue will be similar to today, then Wed a little cooler with 30% flurries.

Roger I like my onions raw or cooked. I have made them cooked and creamed in a cheese sauce.

We started out windy but it calmed down by late afternoon. Car said 35 F when I came home. Hard to drive with the smell of KFC in the car.

Seren several recipes on the net that sound very good as a side dish. It never dawned on me to bake an onion... I grill them for on steaks all the time.
