Kaiser Bill  ( 1859 - 1941 ) For those who visited JD's Birthday Blog JD39s Birthday I mentioned he was born on Kaiser Wilhelm II's birthday too.  I recently won a silver 1913 5 Reichsmark coin about the size of our old silver dollars. The Emperor is on the front.  The old Imperial eagle is on the back. The important item marked by the red arrow is the loop soldered to the coin I CAN WEAR IT ON A CHAIN!  I had an old 1980ish picture frame I could redo to fit my purpose.  Using a gloss black spray paint I gave the frame 3 coats of paint. Remember my blog on Black Hills Gold ~~~ Foto Friday Project ~~~ Using green and red latex paint and an oil based gold I achieved the color mix to replicate the blending I desired.  After removing a section of cardboard a little bit larger than the coin I glued some black felt to the face.  I know the picture is a bit blurry, however, I cut a slit in the back with an exacto knife then pushed the hoop through catching it with needle nose pliers.  Using a safety pin I secured the coin in the recessed space of the felt.  The old coin is now secured in the frame. Yet I may remove it easily to wear on a chain any time I wish to. |

We had sleet here most of the day quitting about 4PM. JD went out to clear it away. The temp hovered about 12 F... -11C with a strong wind out of the South, then ENE then to the North. We burned more wood than 2 normal days besides the gas furnace kicking on. I made us a chicken, veggie, and rice casserole for dinner. Tomorrow is Crockpot Barbecued Ribs. (don't tell STR! 8 were killed in an accident on I-35 driving in the sleet.. prayers for the families.

After 2 days of hard work, I finally got my kitchen sink back in working order, and was able to catch up on two days of dirty dishes that had stacked up on the table. I was so exhausted, that I sat down in a chair and instantly fell asleep for 2 hours. This evening, I was over to the neighbor's place. I am cat sitting and house sitting for the next week. They are taking the dog with them to go skiing in Banff, Alberta, and Nelson, British Columbia.

It's -4F (-20C) here tonight N 4 mph, partly cloudy. Going to be a chilly night. We have 2" of fresh snow on the ground from yesternight.
