We Made It

We made it to January of 2023. JD's birthday is on Friday the 27th.

Max & Alex must leave tomorrow. We have a major ice storm to hit between Highway *3 and 20 with areas that could get over a half inch of ice with some snow also accumulating.

Sorry I didn't make it into chat last night. We had additional guests stop in. Alex and I had to do some cooking. Shrimp, egg drop soup, cheese, chips, homemade french fries... I bet we ,made 10 lbs of fries last night. I am still dealing with this on again / off again Chemo sickness. I'll be more free to chat after they get back home in Chicago.

Ice storms are never good. I hope you don't get too iced up and the power lines don't fall down. I hope Max can fly those wings back to Chicago before any bad weather hits.

Sounds like you had a lot of fun on New Year's Eve. And a lot of great food.

I went to a party 2 doors down with some neighbors and had a lot of fun. Rather unfortunate for them, their basement flooded overnight due to a break in the village water main. The rising water fried the motherboard in their brand new high efficiency furnace. The sump pump did not work because there was no power running to it after an electrical renovation was done to the house. A costly oversight. The column sump pump motor got flooded so a new sump pump had to be found on New Years day, and we had to use the hose off my shop vac for a discharge line. Finally got the water pumped down. Tried to dry out the furnace but it was toast. They are running on 6 electric heaters until the stores reopen on Tuesday so they can get a new motherboard.

Unfortunately the chemo sickness is something you are going to have to live with until the treatments re complete. I know it is frustrating for you not to be able to get into the chat room, but we understand what you are going through and just want you to feel better soon. Don't worry about us in the lobby. It was virtually last night anyway.

I walked the dog this afternoon. The weather was a pleasant, sunny, calm, 35F.

I'm sure you are going to miss Max and Alex when they leave, but they'll be back. They sound like fun people to be around.

We don't have ice storms coming at us tomorrow, but we do have some severe weather coming this way. I'm in the marginal risk area, but some of east Texas is in the enhanced risk area. It was 78F here today.

Hope you get to feeling better. How much longer on the Chemo?

I feel a bit worried learning that you are not keeping well. I hope and pray that you get well soon. It is safe to stay at home during Ice-storms. Take care of yourself, dear Bret. Stay Cheerful as usual.

What a mess for your neighbors. It's 02:00 here woke up needing more Oxys. They moved the ice storm start time to Monday evening and further South into our area. MUTTs will sure miss Max & Alex all the extra attention.

Last night a couple of our guys brought their wives out with them. Alex and I kept the kitchen going with home made french fries being the main event... they were gone about as fast as they came outta the fryer. Batch of hush puppies too. The wives found out why their husbands come home not hungry after work.... LOL Alex made so many quesadillas too... he caught on how to ,make them on the grill.

We have back up electricity for the farm and the fireplace can keep the main areas of the house comfortable. Hope you are able to construct your blogs now as you wish. I will try to be in chat after our guests are gone.

Do U get nausea from chemo ? This sounds a little weird but, Babies R Us carried something called Preggie Pop Drops. Some people doing chemo used them and said they worked well. I wish a cure for cancer was as easy to do !
Feel better soon ! Don't forget to rest ! HUGS

We had a great time. JD got some interesting and unusual gifts for his B-day.... I am working on how to display an item Max gave him. I should have taken pictures for a blog. Ice Storm on the way.

I am glad to know that Max and Alex made it back to Chicago without incident. My neighbors and I are still fighting water woes from the broken water main. The village has done nothing to locate the leak or even notify property owners of the potential for property damage. I took it upon myself to notify the school division about the nearby school that could suffer damage to the basement classrooms if sump pumps are not working. The school is totally surrounded by rising ice covering the ground. School resumes tomorrow, so they need to know if the school in habitable or do they cancel learning until the problems are repaired. My neighbor went and picked up the mayor to show him the damages. He had not been informed by the village maintenance man about any problem. He is apparently afraid of losing his job over this ever-increasing disaster.

oooooooooooooshittt ! That is a hell of a mess to deal with in the winter months. We are just hitting the radar checking on the ice storm progression here. 33 F now at the farm. Had a little nap this afternoon to try and catch up on all the missed snooze time... I will try to be in chat later tonight.
