BBs

The temp hovered around the freezing mark the whole day here. Cloudy, windy, overcast...

A drizzle studded with icy BB's peppered any exposed skin here. The only good thing out of today is JD called a little bit ago and thinks we will be done harvesting by mid afternoon tomorrow. ....

Harvesting this year has drug on way too long. The winter is just getting started and it SUXS. Ruby is doing better. I helped her up the stairs and she is outside barking at the deer or coons. Made a batch of fudge a little bit ago.... it is cooling down.

Sounds like winter is working it's way into N Iowa. We've had winter here for quite a while. Right now the temp is 0F, and headed lower. Little bit of a wind chill. Moon is shining but we could get flurries turning to snow starting around 2 am.

Sorry to hear about your back putting you in so much pain. Luckily the oxy's seem to provide you with some relief. I hope Roxy can keep barking at the deer and coons for a long time yet.

I went to the city today to do some banking, pick up prescription drugs, pay one of the 2 mortgages, and then drove to another town to make it to the food bank while it was still open. I got a nice hamper and they put me on the Christmas list. They will be delivering a nice hamper including a turkey to my door on the morning of Dec 17. That is so generous of them. If I had kids, they would also be bringing each one a gift.

The old yellow taxi with 606,000 on the odometer performed flawlessly in the cold weather and the heater blew hot. I do have some cardboard in front of the radiator.

Those BB's of ice just made the day more of a pain in the ass.

She's back IN now and I helped her down the stairs. MUTTs Inc are in the office with me right now. Watching an interesting historical documentary... always get a bit smarter...

I am in the LOBBY Roger if you want to chat. I am so glad you have that food pantry to help you out. I just took 2 cases of canned veggies to our food pantry. Waiting for a batch of fudge to cool off so I can eat some..... I just hope JD can get that dammed corn done up there. Next year I hope he doesn't contract so G D much.

That would shut down the whole state of Texas!! Just kidding, but when we get icy roads here, most of us stay home. Unlike up north, we don't have the equipment to clear the roads, and though they sometimes get out before the winter storms hit to salt and gravel the bridges in the city areas, it isn't enough. Forget about us country folk, the roads out here are never salted.

Glad to know JD is almost finished. Seems like it's really late in the season to be doing any farming?

JD just called and has packed up and on the way home. For as nasty as the weather was yesterday I really didn't burn that much wood.
