W0W ! Flock it!

I enjoy the outdoors both hunting or just watching... Most of you probably know the Canada Goose. Beautiful bird, great roasted, currently in season for North Iowa Hunters.

This afternoon while putting the final touches on our Christmas lights the Largest Flock I'd ever seen in my life went over. THOUSANDS of them. Laughingly I Did take cover under the porch till they cleared the area.... Goose poo is a disgusting splatter.

JG & Max managed to down 3 of them while they visited us over T-day.

I have lived in this area all my life and I NEVER seen that many before.... We have quite a few that stay locally but this flock came from the South ? A bit strange but I didn't take any chances hanging out in the open gazing at them and I am glad my cars were put away.

We live in middle Georgia and see LOTS of Canadian geese. Sometime we hear a flock fly over our house on the way to or from the park just down the street. We go through the park most days and watch them. Occasionally we take white bread that I cut into small chunks and put in a baggie to feed them.

n Here the geese take what they need from our fields of grain. They are very well fed on the ,many bugs they devour too. The only part of the geese population that catches my ire is when my cars are targeted for their "Deposits"

They move quickly past us. My car would be a target but I think the head for the park the next street over

I only see the geese twice a year, heading south, or heading back north. I don't know how far south they go, but they aren't low enough to hunt when going over my property. They are way up there.

There's a certain beauty in the "V" shaped formations as they make their way across the skies.

Geese consistently fed bread will become malnourished, filling up on junk food and neglecting natural food sources.

Extreme cases can lead to a condition called angel wing, a wing deformity that leaves the birds unable to fly.

POur geese get plenty of grasshoppers judging by the poo on our vehicles.

Darter, you are wise to take cover when a large flock is flying directly overhead. They are vindictive birds and can aim their poo very accurately to automobiles parked outdoors, or even on your head and shoulders, if you are within their "hind" site. We have lots of Canada geese around here in the summer. There is a nearby lake and bird sanctuary where there are hundreds of thousands of the majestic but messy birds.

I need to go to the city today and it is cold with a moderate N wind, +1F. 30% flurries forecast.

I know, love the V formation! I hear them honking when they fly over and that's when I look up to see them.

Their bomb sights exceeds the US Air Force in accuracy. We have a white roof on the house and it is spotted from time to time too.

We are just above freezing with a rain / sleet mix forecast for this afternoon into the evening. The crew is still at it up North... they have not been shut down.

I've been telling Abelle that for over a decade, but her and Alfie insist on feeding them white bread for some reason......Most parks have signs forbidding people to feed bread to the birds, and even have little kiosks that sell appropriate food for them.....

Cities in Iowa forbid any feeding of ducks, deer, or geese.

Oakville is right on Lake Ontario so we get loads of Canada Geese and if caught feeding them we get fined and I am told it's a hefty one.

Here in Iowa many municipalities passed the same ordinance making it illegal to feed the geese, deer, or ducks.
