History Nutz

I doubt myseek1 had a clue in her Post (" Essential Basics ") I planned on blogging about a book I recently purchased. This thick, heavy, hard covered compendium of photographs from the 20th Century as compiled by LIFE Magazine caught my attention with a price equally tantalizing.

Many photos are from history not usually seen on the net.

Some great reading also accompanies the many pictures.

Many of the photos are in color others black and white; however, each is well covered in descriptive narration. Should you run across a copy of this edition I strongly recommend picking it up for a read or if it happens to be in your local library.

Yes........ I am a "History Nut Case" and I will snatch up any interesting history book I run across in the Antique shoppes, Junk stores, and Thrift venues. That book probably cost $25 - $50 new and I gave a quarter for it in the Lady's thrift store. So far I have spent several hours just reading and looking at the many pictures. A Balmy 33F ~~~ 1 C here with a misty rain / snow that made a mess of my windshield on my trip back from town.

Man oh man. You got a hell of a deal on that book. I always loved the Life Magazine when it was being printed and I spent hours looking at the pictures and reading the narratives.

I spent all day fabricating and welding on the interior support beam for my garage roof. When finished, it weighed about 300 lb. I managed to lift and jack it into position and bolt it to the wall brackets all by myself. My shoulders are sore from bearing the weight. I have a couple more holes to drill through the 3/8" thick steel to affix it to the rafters in the center of the 23' span. I will do that tomorrow or maybe the next tomorrow. I want to go to the city Friday for a few grocs.

It is +12F here right now and it is supposed to get as high as 32F tomorrow. No precip, clear skies, calm today, but possibly windy tomorrow.

After I get the morning feeding done the new guy can handle the farm while I go back into town. I forgot some items at the grocery store . I need some red holly berries for a X-mas wreath on the front door, I also need some of that florist's green tape so I can get a large bouquet put together too.
