When it rains.............. it pours

Yep when it rains............ it pours........

Thursday a fruit & veggie vender had his truck laden along the street in Waterloo.

Good prices on fresh peaches so I bought a lug.

He also cut the price on his white grapes... I took a whole lug of them too.

I came home started a load of jars in the dishwasher..... The machine decided it was time to give up and quit ! I went to Menard's and bought a new one. David a friend installed it for me. ....

I'll make grape juice, peach jam, and maybe a peach pie or cobbler............ MUTTs Inc are waiting for JD to come in ... I am watching some English History after the fall of Rome.

Darter you should have posted a photo of all your canning. I recall growing up that is what my mother did. She didn't make grape juice but she made lots of canned fruits and made jams and jellies. When you grow up with a large family she had a lot of mouths to feed.

Bret, You always go out of your way to find more work for yourself. I know you like to keep busy, but you are still recovering from major surgery. That said, i know your preserves will make for some tasty treats over the winter. Good job, my friend.

I was so tired last night that I fell asleep sitting on the couch with the TV on. Woke up at 12:04 am and went to bed.

Hey Roger I just found a bunch of bigger "Juice" fruit jars that hold 1 1/2 quarts.... Grandma had them and I saved them from my worthless relatives!!!! Getting ready to can peaches..... I HATE pealing them. dip min hot water then scrape off the peal.

The seedless white grapes should make some very good juice!

I SURE MISS MY MINI DISHWASHER. THE NEW ONES AREN'T NEARLY AS NICE OR EFFICIENT. I GUESS THE RUBBER GLOVES WILL BE FOREVER.
I am NOT Happy with the rack set up in this one even if it is a name brand made in Iowa... AMANA.

Grapes have been fantastic, and super delicious here to. You work a lot We had a lot of grapes and would fill shelves of canned grape juice, no small task. My dad had to rush my step mother to the hospital in midst of canning peaches, he decided a couple days later they looked ok to can. They tasted great, but I wouldn't get caught driving after having peaches

Seems so late in the season for peaches. My trees produce in the Spring and all are gone by the end of May. My grandson loves them and picks a bunch at a time to take home with him. My youngest daughter cans whatever is left before they go bad. Then she makes homemade peach ice cream and cobbler out of them.

I thought you were supposed to take it easy?

Compared to my "normal" work load I am being lazy.. taking it easy. Ham salad sandwich with cream of chicken soup with celery.
