10 / 22 / 2022 I am afraid my life has been directed to watching the corn fall outta the truck, into the auger, then up into the bin.... OR cooking for the guys. Today's forecast is Sunny with a high of 83 °F (28.3 °C). Winds variable at 10 to 19 mph. We have a 50% chance of rain for Monday. We will be working tomorrow for the guys who don't mind working on a Sunday. |

There isn't anything exciting or blog worthy to write in here ... I will just have to keep an eye on the auger lines with a dang good chance for rain on Monday. I do have a Gold Coin to cover IF I get a few minutes and Hemingway .....................

It sounds like a beautiful day!

It is a beautiful day here...... clear blue sky, 70 F/21 C. I'll paint some wooden beams outside and clean the driveway..... Happiness is when what you think, what you say, what you do are in harmony - M. Gandhi

Bret, please be careful when working around the trucks and augers; you don't want to split open your surgery wound. Cooking for the crew is almost a full time job. I don't know how you find the time to be unloading the kernels. Best wishes, my friend.

You have nice harvesting weather and we are getting snow here, Actually under a heavy snowfall warning for tonight, continuing into Sunday. So far it has been mostly rain, 3/4", and we could see 4 to 6" of snow. Currently it is 33F, N 8 mph. I used compressed air to blow the water out of my outdoor lines and put the hoses and sprinklers away this morning. I don't think I will be needing that stuff until next year. I also dug my snow shovel out from under the wheelbarrow in one of the sheds. I have serviced all of the furnaces so they should not give any problems during the upcoming winter.

Roger I am sorry I can't seem to stay awake long enough to chat... By the end of the G D Day I just set down and fall asleep!

Roger ^YOU KEEP that white stuff UP THERE!! With both combines running full tilt we knock off 150,-200 acres of corn a day../.. I am lucky that we bought another auger line and we keep slamming the grain into the bins as fast as possible..... It's not a hard job just a steady pace of walking and observing... looking ahead..... some of the grain is already lined up for the markets IDK where it is going but too pricey for ethanol or hog feed. Probably Corn Flakes for breakfast !!!! or GRITS ! The snow system is moving east right along the Canada/US border. I don't know if it will affect you in Iowa. If the grain price is high, I'd venture a guess it is destined for export to Europe. Ukraine is having trouble getting any of their grain to European markets due to war interrupting shipping channels. Sell it while the price is high if you can get it hauled to the elevator. My internet is fading in and out due to the snow I guess. It has taken me 45 minutes to leave this comment.

That's OK Bret. I am not usually in chat either due to other things demanding my attention. As winter settles in, you and I both will have more time to visit in the lobby. I fall asleep too if I sit in one spot for too long. LOL!

You are doing great if you can knock off close to 200 acres a day and have the bins to store it. I hope the weather holds for you to get finished. Interesting blog Darter. My blog for Foto Friday wasn't anything terribly exciting just the neighborhood where I live. It is very scenic around where I live but yesterday was a rainy day. You posted a good picture of the corn falling out of the truck. Reminds me of the days spent on the farm when I was a kid.

Hungr I was curious of where you live when reading your comments. I am originally from Alberta and I am not familiar of the area where you live. I remember all too well those first snow storms we got as early as September when I used to live there.
