the Cast  Gawd only knows just how old my cast iron skillet is.  Tonight I made us Salisbury Steaks with mushroom gravy.  You can't put anything but a good old cast iron pan into a hot oven to simmer. |

Good morning Bret!. That Salisbury steak meal looks absolutely scrumptious. I love cooking in a good old cast iron skillet. Unfortunately, I threw all of mine out some years ago, except for one tiny one that is only large enough to cook one burger or fry one egg.

THOSE ITEMS CAN LAST A LIFETIME. NOT THE SAME ANYMORE. HOLD ON TO THAT SKILLET FOREVER. AND STOP MAKING ME HUNGRY! Hungry??? I won't tell about the sausage & eggs I made in it this morning.

You had to mention dessert didn't you? I am just getting out of bed on Monday morning. It is 30F, clear, calm. Forecast high temp is 77F.

Wish I had a plate of that tasty meal right now, and cake for afters. It's amazing just how fast delicious meal can disappear ! The cooking time is also strung out with that critical simmer baking time.

Wow, those Salisbury Steaks look delicious. I have several old cast iron skillets, and love them. What I miss here, is my Roemertopf, it's a clay cooker that cooks all your meals in the oven.
