Way LATE !

We had cattle out..... Just finished dinner when neighbor called and calves on the road. Started to remove a pet peeve.... A cedar stump in the fencerow... The wind was in the right direction. Burned it out and will chop off the remainder.

Chasing calves is always hard. They think you are playing with them so they tend to circle around back and buck and jump. Black calves at night makes the job that much more difficult. Hope you got them all back inside the fence.

I have a big old cedar stump that I wish I could burn out, but it is inches away from the house, so that is not an option. I need to get a new chain for my chain saw so I can whack away at it some more.

Actually calves are very easy to round up. Donkeys are a completely different story ! Been there and done that ! Just stay calm and place some alfalfa inside the gate and and they will go right in. But, this is the southwest and you just sort them out the next day . As long as they are safe then no problem.

Your post brought back some more memories...... glad they are memories and not current events for us. Critters have a way of finding ways to get out of their confinements, and a great aversion to being herded back into it.

The calves knew where they belonged.... their little curiosity scheme fell apart when JD showed up with reinforcements.

What's left of this one will come out with an ax, however, it is still burning yet today.

Our calves are mostly black and a bit hard to spot at night. Some have a little white in their faces that you just have to keep an eye on. They'd wandered up onto the road and had to get back in with the rest of the herd.

I think they'd probably seen what they wanted to and really wanted to be back with momnma and their playmates. I also seen your concerns about getting enough vitamin C . I probably overdose on vitamin C with my diet and supplements I take.

I hope your doc thought of checking your B12 levels too. Our bodies are such a complex organism.... too little or too much of anything can throw off some functions.
