Grapes of Wrath

Our local store had a SCREW UP and were shipped too many Red Seedless California grapes..... They had to sell a bunch FAST.../ lowered the price.... I took advantage of this. I am busy canning Grape Juice prohibiting me from chatting or much of a blog tonight.

Great find on the cheap grapes. I know that grape juice will turn out great and make a healthy drink for next winter.

It was a rainy day here, 0.65". It was really cool. I had the furnace running to keep the shack warm. I also fixed the steering drag link on my tractor mower with my welding skills. Better than new now.

Only had one little doggy to walk this afternoon when the rain stopped at 4 pm. We had to detour around all the mud puddles.

I'd watched Grandma do this with her grapes many years ago. Grandpa had vines in the back yard from the 1930's.

So glad you got that mower problem solved. The old JD 425 has a deck level issue we need to address here soon so it mows level.

I get a few minutes every now and then to take a quick peek in here. MUTTs Inc are helping.............

I have an old grape vine (black grapes - sweet & juicy) and this year's yield was quite generous. Apart from sharing with neighbours, I froze some also. How do you extract the juice from the grapes? Is the technique similar to that of traditional wine-making (grape-treading) or something much faster - a juice extractor?

How well I remember a sudden abundance of produce that had to be processed right away. In fact, I was canning fruit during the day that my youngest son was born at 10:10 that night.

My next blog will explain the juice extraction for you. I seldom get any grapes from our vines ... the stripped gopher steal them all
