Anytime Treat

While out rummaging keep a watchful eye out for the large lone salt & pepper shaker. You may generally pick them up at a most reasonable price. These shakers will provide you with a handy any time of day treat from the light breakfast to the midnight bedtime snack.

With a small array of essential spices you may create that unique shake on treat that makes a slice of toast special.

In a measuring cup fill it about half way with sugar. Then add your cinnamon, allspice, ground cloves, and nutmeg to make your own blend in the amounts you select.

Take a small piece of tape to close off the holes to your shaker to avoid making a mess.

Invert your shaker to remove the bottom plug.

With a funnel dump your sugar and spice blend in. You might want to add more sugar. Replace the plug and give it a shake to combine your blend.

Make some toast with plenty of butter, sprinkle on your special blend, and give it a taste. You now have a handy snack or an on the fly breakfast.

The day started out foggy till the wind picked up. Mostly temps in the low 80's F I've given a filled shaker, some butter, and a loaf of bread as a house warming gift to friends who've just moved into their new house. My nurse comes tomorrow to make certain I am still alive Also my cleaning gal will come rescue me from the build up of household chores on Wednesday.

Mmmmm love this ! I like my French toast like that instead of syrup. I make my French toast with eggs, vanilla, cinnamon. a little bit of flavored coffee creamer and a little bit of milk. The coffee creamer give it a nice flavor, where it doesn't need syrup or cinnamon sugar

That is a very interesting spice shaker. I can't say as I've ever heard of dispensing toast topping condiments that way. Like you mentioned......a nice house warming gift.

Star, I like your French toast recipe using coffee creamer. I think I will try that some day.

I only use cinnamon in sugar, but I love it. Speaking of sugar and toast..... when I was a kid, and got sick, my mother made me "milk toast". Generously buttered toast, sprinkled with sugar (and sometimes cinnamon), stacked in a bowl and covered with hot milk.

Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

It was a very rainy day starting out at 52F and the temp has dropped throughout the day to the current 42F. 1.15" of rain so far, with a lot more i the forecast. Calgary has issued a local state of emergency with regard to flooding along the 2 rivers that flow through and merge within the city limits. Several smaller communities have done the same. Calgary has closed a major thoroughfare that runs along side the river to allow for construction of a temporary flood berm. I live on high ground far away from any rivers, so am safe from any overland flooding. I have a small roof leak in the garage, but it is of no major consequence.

I have just had toast, spread with butter and marmalade. I have never tried it with spices, sounds rather tasty I must say. We are having french toast today for lunch, might try out Star's recipe.

Cinnamon toast is a big kids treat... I just like the expanded flavors.

I never had the milk toast. This shaker gives you the cinnamon/sugar instant gratification.

Glad you're on high ground. We didn't get that much rain... only 1/4" just enough for a sloppy day.

The shaker comes in handy when making cinnamon rolls or buns too.

Oh the good old days when I used to live on cinnamon toast for breakfast! I don't use sugar anymore, I haven't even purchased a bag of sugar in over ten years, but I do still use cinnamon. Try a little cinnamon in your coffee maker, a dash or two in the grounds, makes a wonderful tasting cup of coffee.

Funny, I was thinking how good a piece of cinnamon toast would be the other day and here you do a blog about it. Tempting, very tempting!

Remember a few raisins will work with the cinnamon on the toast too. My psychic connection works once in awhile.
