"D" as in Dawg

Dogs......... We have rescued some exceptional canines we collectively call MUTTs Inc.

Ruby, our Great Pyrenees, is going on 10 years old. A couple were getting divorced and neither could have a where they were going and Ruby would have been put down. In the first seconds when I met her she jumped up and gave me a big kiss .... She rode home in the Beemer and been here ever since.

Roxy, our Rottweiler, is JD's dog. She was to be be put down because of "F"ing city Law banning "Mean" dogs.... Yes she does rule the roost with an "Iron Paw' informing the other dogs how to behave. She has hip problems and needs assistance with steps.. We put in a ramp to the deck so she may transverse the incline without any problems. At night she is on JD's side of the bed on "Guard Duty" keeping all Boogiemen at bay.

Rosie, our quiet retired Greyhound. Rosie was injured while racing in Minnesota having won 60 of 70 races. We paid the Vet bills and brought her home Rosie is so reserved you'd never know she was even around till a cold nose touches your arm wanting ear rubbies. Her Brindle coloring blends in so well with our parlor oriental I have tripped over her not seeing her.

Ronnie.... my shadow is a Hungarian Vizsula... Ronnie was brought up from Texas, an unclaimed victim of a hurricane. He needed a home and selected me to provide it. Ronnie is probably as much mine as Roxy is JD's. He's absolutely devoted to me.... to the point we had to install locks to the bathroom doors so I could have a moment of privacy.

So much for "D" as in dog. Their company enriches our lives and brings us boundless joy. Each with their own talents and "personalities"

I enjoyed your Dawgs for the letter D. I have a picture of our Pom, Pip, but I've used it before so didn't want to post it again. We sure miss her. I have a place about Poms, and a couple of small statues of Poms on the hearth.
Over the years, Joe and I both have had several pets, me more than him because we lived in the country and had a pack of kids. It seemed folks liked to dump unwanted animals near us..... guess they figured if we had all those kids, we would want some more pets.

Love the photos and stories of all your lovely dogs. I can see how loved and spoiled they are. Heart warming "D" pictures.

Liked all of the D for Dog pictures. Nice shots.

It only takes a drop of ink to make a million people think. There are many stories.

I'm glad you opened up your home and heart to the dogs. I briefly fostered two recently retired greyhounds (also brindle) until suitable homes could be found for them. Pathetic that many are quietly disposed of (shot because cheaper than getting euthanised) once they've reached their use-by-date and/or haven't met performance expectations. To add insult to injury, they are confined to tiny cages with very little standing/turn around room for most of the day. The saying 'The more I learn of people, the more I like my dog' (Mark Twain) certainly holds true in instances like this.

Getting shadowed seems to be instinctive.

Our cat, Pumpkin, got tossed. We had a Black Lab Jake that was tossed. He was with us ten years to the day.

They get spoiled along the way in our little pack... each contributing their share of love.

A GOOD NUMBER OF INJURED OR RETIRED RACING HOUNDS FROM SPAIN ARE ADOPTED HERE. OTHERWISE THEY WOULD BE PUT DOWN. VERY SAD.
Our Rosie earns her keep catching stripped gophers that venture into their pen. She just plays with them till they quit "playing"

Rosie was like a "cardboard" dog foir the first year or so lacking personality until she started in getting the feel for the wide open house to her and the companionship. She'd never had a dog cookie and now she's first in line when it is cookie time.

Great introduction to MUTTs Inc, Darter. mighty fine pictures and narratives. I feel as if I know them personally, even though I have never met them in person.

MUTTs Inc are a major part of our lives. Heidi had blogged so many miles helping me around the house.. I may do some painting here today after some outside work.
