"C" for Photo Friday.... Generally speaking a cement overcoat is not a good thing to wear while swimming in the East River.... Most Portland cement comes in about a 90 lb bag. With various "mixes" in smaller sacks. The old boys say Cement is the dry powder. While concrete is the dry powder mixed with sand, aggregates, and water. Today so many get it interchanged and screwed up. Recently with the aid of my trusty assistant; Ronnie, I replaced the step to the Beemer Pad. I had several cement blocks that were 4" thick so as to make an immovable frame. Flanked by some 2' X 8" X 16" blocks on edge and a wooden form on the back side. Ronnie and I mixed up a batch of concrete, poured it into place, screeded it off, then troweled to a semi-rough finish. Made a much nicer step than the bricks that were there. ADDENDUM........... Who can forget in Star Trek " A Piece of the Action" when Mr Scott informed Krako "he'd be wearing concrete galoshes !" |

I remember as a kid they drained the one of the locks & dams on the Mississippi river and a chunk of concrete that had been in a large wash tub with two "footprints" extending down in came to light in a dredger. . LOL! The article always stuck in the back of my mind. Mess with the Mob and pay the price. The concrete for our step has since cured and I have swept the light grey powdery spoil from the block surfaces for a nice finished product.

Very nice new step and "C" photo. I need a new step at the shed, but I don't have a handyman like you to fix it for me.

Good job on the step upgrade. Concrete is a heavy product to work with, but leaves a nice, durable finished product.

It's pension pay day so I have to head to the city to make some manual payments and get a few grocs to last me till the end of June.

Love the C pics ! Made me think about how many cement foot prints might be found in waters of NY ! I knew of a lot of people whose grandparents had to change there names to get away from it

Looks good! Seems to be the thing this week, we just poured a cement floor in the chicken coop to raise it higher so the birds won't be walking in flood water when it rains. No flooding in there so far this year, but in the past we've had some serious rain. Nothing as fancy as what you did though.
