Doctor Visit.....

Luckily I was able to get in to see my physician today. With the usual medical mumbo jumbo he wants me on mega doses of a scripted vitamin K. He wants to keep track of the iron built up in my body the other stuff IDK....

Everything else is going fine. STILL the BOOT & WALKER minimal weight on my ankle. Unfortunately he did not prescribe mega doses of Bombay Sapphire.... grrrrrr! Have to settle for Icy cold Coke. Chicken and Stars on the menu tonight here. Some hot soup after a chilly damp day..... 55 F 13 C sprinkles off & on.

I understand the vitamin K to help blood clot, and sounds like the doc is going to keep an eye on it and the iron. Are you also taking iron? Joe is anemic and has to take iron, and the GI doc also told him to take Vitamin C with the iron to help with the absorption. And when we added B12 and folate, it helped with his blood count, but he only takes that three times a week.
His anemia was caused by diverticulosis bleeding, but they could not pinpoint any specific area. One doc put him on Sulfasalazine, and the horrible bleeding stopped, until she moved away and the next GI doc we saw took him off of it.
The bleeding came back, just not quite as visible as the huge amounts he had previously, but enough that he passed out, fell and broke his leg while we were in TN. The GI doc in that hospital put him back on it and said NEVER stop taking it. I test his stool every day for any hidden blood, and there is just a hint of it occasionally, so his blood count stays low enough to call him anemic, but not the drastic lows he used to have that called for transfusions.
Your blog sounds encouraging, like you are on the road to recovery. Our bodies are wonderfully made, but when we get older and they get out of whack, it often takes a lot longer to recover.

This crap has gotten me way under my normal energy levels and I just crash. The little cat nap is not enough for me to keep going. I'll keep with the updates as it transpires. IDK what the other scrips are guess I'll know when they get here.

Wow!! You are the total opposite of me right now. I have to have blood taken out every 2 1/2 months to keep my blood thinned out and you need yours to thicken up!! I did learn something though, vitamin C helps with iron, coffee depletes iron. I take K2 to help keep my blood thin, you take K1 to thicken yours up.

I feel really weak after I donate, but within two weeks I get my energy back. I thank God my girls are around to help me with stuff around here during that time.

I understand the nap time, that's what I do the first week after a donation.

Thanks for the blood! ( in my best Count Dracula voice ) Maybe we need to figure out a DIY transfusion kits? All this came to the forefront since the car accident and this stupid tropical disease.

IF you care to share a couple buckets of that 90 F air I'd gladly take it. I am about to light the fireplace to take off the evening chill.

Good to hear that your Dr is at least trying something to stop your blood loss symptoms. I hope he is going down the right track.

I was at my Dr and hospital for lab tests most of the day. I'm being referred to a specialist for an uncomfortable scabby thing on my ass that the Dr thinks is melanoma, mainly because it has been there for well over a year and is getting more uncomfortable as time goes by. He also checked my heart and lungs but couldn't come up with a reason for my light headed, dizzy, poor balance symptoms. He wants me to see both an ear Dr and an eye Dr too.

Got home and had homemade chicken vegetable soup and 2 baked spuds for supper. Then went over and walked the dog.
It was a really nice 75F here today, light SW breeze, mostly sunny.

Roger I hope so too. Yesterday was not good at all. Still in boot cast with dressing to be changed regularly.

I've just started the fireplace a little bit ago.... A bit chilly in the house and I like fireplace heat better than the drafty furnace.

I prefer chili to soup and can eat chili anytime of the year, but I do like a nice homemade chicken soup on occasion, just not so much in the summer.

Chili is an anytime sort of soup but best when combined with hotdogs for Coneys ! We do Coney Dogs year round here..... they are a treat when I can remember to make them. Our guys love them at harvest time
