Trashed to Treasure

You might remember awhile back I removed the label from a plastic Gain Packets container. A member suggested I plant a fern in it... THUS today I sauntered out with my walker to fulfill her suggestion. First of all I took a piece of aluminum foil to assist with the drainage

With my trusty cordless drill I punctured several drainage holes in the bottom.

The foil fit perfectly conforming to the irregular bottom providing a space for excess water to exit the container. I filled the container about 2/3s full with potting soil.

Like a dumb ass, spade in hand, and an ice cream bucket I bounced my way out to the fern patch by the shed forgetting the camera on the workbench.... #@%**!!! Digging a couple plants I made my way back where they fit down in nicely. A little more potting soil along with a healthy splash of water and PRESTO ! Ferns as suggested in my pretty green container. The strong winds here blew the fronds around a bit, however, later I shall set the plants in a more prominent position.

I spent a considerable amount of time on my rump painting flower pots & containers to "freshen" them up before planting. JD is up North planting with John, Ronnie & I are running the farm. I plunk my rump on a stool to groom the horses for Ronnie so he can do other things... (scoop poop) Managed to get bedding washed & hung out so it is clean and fresh when JD gets back in a couple days. Ruby is not taking the heat so well... IN/OUT/IN It was 88 F... 31 C here and windy again.

KEEP MOVING !!!! I have buckets taped to my walker to haul crap in... seeds digger thing. clipper ... I hauled potted plants out with it... Never stop and fight to the last breath. Right now the dang wind just keeps me on the North side out of the wind so much. Forgot my hat and made my hair into a rat's nest

Tomorrow I'd like to hop on the mower, ride out to the grape vines, and prune out the dead for a small grapevine wreath for the front door. Add some ribbon or flowers whatever turns up for a touch of Martha Stewart break from the usual tedium of the daily tasks. I will try to remember the camera for a blog... ... Just a break in the humdrum of the farm chores and housekeeping.

Lovely display of ferns in your pretty recycled green pot. The darn wind plays havoc with plants and flowers, knocks them all out of shape.

I had two pots broken last week, and the plants in them strewn all around the garden. I was able to rescue the plants and tidy them up.

Mother Nature knows just how to ruffle our feathers at times pulling tricks on us when we least expect it. I just woke and thought I better come check the radar and You Guessed it... rain here by dawn.... I have some yellow bush string beans I'd like to plant by the mower shed foundation so they get more sun and protected from the brutal Northwest winds and catch the extra rain out of the South. I'd rather not have a rain day off several irons in the fire I'd like to get done but this walker has me moving at a snail's pace.
