Restoration I picked this frame at the Thrift store very cheap.... Fifty cents! By the looks of this corner it's been dropped... hard. Bring in my trusty DRUMMEL to round out a few rough spots. of the few times I've picked the tool and the right I wanted was previously installed. I filled in the cracks and tapered in the ground areas with spackling compound. Selecting a thick latex paint I covered the spackled areas to blend in better for the final coat of paint. I made an error in my plans for the final finish. I sprayed the frame with the gold then thought I'd highlight some with a "dry brushed" Black Hills Gold.... > > DUMB !!! It looked awful ! I resprayed it for it's final finish. I will now prepare to mount my World War II Fiji shilling banknote |

Just a part of my puttsie day around the house. I'd work on this a bit then let it "dry" while I cooked or messed with something else. But it gave me something to do setting down.

Isn't it remarkable what can be found in thrift shops? I once bought a picture frame at a garage sale that had an oval matting. I gave a whole dime for it. Later, we were at Foley Beach and I took a picture of the pier, then saw a framed one in the gift shop for (to me) an outrageous price. Later, I looked at the picture I had taken and noticed that it was of similar orientation as the one in the gift shop, so I had it printed in the size of the picture frame I had. Voila! I had a photo that looked almost like the one in the gift shop. Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

Nice find....Is it plaster?...Being an artist, I'm always perusing for frames in antique and second hand stores.....One year, when I was teaching art a special needs needs day-care, up to 8 years old, I was really impressed with some of the kid's artwork.....We were looking for a fundraising idea and I volunteered to mount and frame children's art and have an opening and sell the art. Some people were very dubious that anyone would buy kid's art, but I convinced them. I started by asking the children to donate their paintings, then asked framing shops for whatever they could spare and they gave us lots of pre-cut matting in different colours and sizes......Then I put out a call for frames and so many people donated beautiful frames. The trick with displaying children's art, is to know where to cut them....kids don't think about the end result, they just enjoy the process....Of course I explained to them that I might trim their paintings and they were fine with it... It was way more work than I had anticipated, but the results were surprisingly good. I was working in a facility for special needs children, which was part of a facility that included adults.....I was given the use of the kitchen/lunchroom that the adults used to learn how to become independent....One day, I was still there when about 20 0f them arrived...they were very quiet and well-behaved and sat at the tables staring at me as I hurried to finish so they could have their space.....They called people like me "Profoundly Normite"....... All those people silently staring at me while I hurried to get finished was kinda making me nervous....I was cleaning the glass of these second-hand frames, then I would put the painting in and the matting and the backing and fasten it and then I would find a smear on the inside of the glass or a piece of crud and had to take it apart again and I was getting quite frustrated, having missed one ferry and phoned my kids I would be late and and.....I went to spray Windex on a smudged glass and I had turned the bottle backwards and sprayed myself in the eye....Well, my audience just erupted....they laughed so hard they were falling off their chairs....Then they were done and the room was silent again....I picked up the Windex and someone yelled "Do it again!!!"...and they all laughed....I laughed so hard I was crying.... Well, We had our art show, and many people came and bought the beautiful framed paintings and we made enough money to go on the trip we wanted to go on and the parents were amazed that their children had made such beautiful art.

You are so talented when it comes to restoring things, it looks really nice! My next project is a chicken tractor, after that, I'm thinking of painting my old Dodge one ton, but not today! I have to get out and get some mowing done before the rains hit. Have a great day!

Neat job! It's a reminder I need to bog, then sand when dry, a section of rotted timber window frame outside. Have cleaned it up and temporarily covered with waterproof duct tape until I can face what seems a daunting task/know how to tackle it. Any suggestions?

We have more rain on the way. What is a "chicken tractor" ??? I've decided to do this because I have lost so many birds due to irresponsible neighbors letting their dogs run loose during the day. I caught my neighbor's two Blue Heelers in the act of killing my birds a few years ago, they killed 20 birds that day. They never even offered to pay for them. To replace those hens would have cost me $500.00, that's why I buy chicks, adult birds aren't cheap.

A chicken tractor is a movable coop. I can put the chickens in it and move it from place to place on the property. The coop is bottomless so the birds can scratch and eat bugs, grass and whatever seeds they find. The coop will protect them from predators during the day, but I'll have to move them back to the main coop at night. My daughter and I will rig a door for them to go in and out of the two coops. So a chicken tractor is kind of like free ranging the birds with protection. Here a landowner has the right to shoot any dogs in the act of destroying property. Mi mom in law has about 50 hens, some quail, guinea hens and white geese. I've thought about getting geese, but I never do. My Mom had a couple, they were better watchdogs than her dog.

We can do the same if they attack our livestock They used to have 5 Heelers, they are down to one. Don't look at me, I didn't get rid of their dogs, but I'm betting his neighbor next to him did. He raises chickens too, just not for the same reason I do, his are more for game if you get my drift? Not illegal to raise them. I've thought about getting geese, but I never do.
